15 Months Old

We are 15 months old today and still having a blast in our world. We are saying around 20 words each, with "up" being the one that drives mom the craziest. We are always asking for her to pick us up and we usually do it at the same time. She doesn't give in very often, but when she does life is good. We are also using a handful of signs like "more", "please", "eat", "sorry", "milk", and "all done". This does make life easier...if only we could have figured that out sooner. We go for our 15 month check-up next Thursday so we'll fill you in on our stats then.

The Wonder Pets

There is one cartoon that tops Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora the Explorer, and Blue's Clues, and that cartoon is The Wonder Pets. We love to dance and sing with Linny (guinea pig), Tuck (turtle), and Ming-Ming (duck); and we get to save all sorts of baby animals. For Christmas, Lily received a Ming-Ming character that saves a kitten. I've been kind of jealous of her ever since, and mom and dad have been looking for Tuck for me. Well, today we found him at Toys R Us, and he is saving a baby beaver. He is so cool and he even sings. While the three of us were busy picking out which Wonder Pet I was going to get, little did we know that Lily was tearing every Ming-Ming she could reach off of the shelves. I bet she thought she was going to get one, but it was my turn to get a toy so mom made her pick them all up. She was pretty upset, but I think she had tons of fun while it lasted.

Croup - Round #2

We spent a good part of our afternoon at Phoenix Children's Hospital Urgent Care thanks to me. Remember how I said when I don't sleep through the night something must be wrong. Well, last night I was a rhinoceros, and I kept mom and dad up almost all night, hence the trip to urgent care. The doctor said I most likely have croup, which is what Lily was hospitalized for back in November, so he treated me with steroids and sent me on my way. My ears and lungs were clear, but I have a horrible cold with an occasional barking cough so he felt we better play it safe. Now, mommy and daddy are watching Lily closely to make sure that she doesn't get it again. Granted her case in November was extreme, but she hasn't been back to normal since then so we're hoping she catches a break this time. At least we get to spend tomorrow with mommy again so it isn't all bad, but I think we are all ready to be healthy again considering something has been going through our house since Halloween.

Our Big News Is...

We're moving to Wisconsin...Milwaukee to be exact! Congrats to all of you who guessed correctly. We hope you didn't cheat, and if you did we hope you feel really bad about it. Our house officially goes on the market in about a week, but daddy is trying to be "resourceful" (that's what a few people who have come through the house say) and sell it on his own first. We've actually had lots of people come look at the house, but no takers yet. We are very excited to move to Wisconsin, although lots of people have told us we're crazy because it is so cold. We'll survive though, and we'll get to hang out with our family more often now since everyone we're related to lives in Wisconsin or Illinois. Lily may fulfill her New Year's resolution too...to build a real snowman. That sounds cool! We'll definitely miss all of our friends in Arizona, but that's what planes are for, and if we heard the weatherman correctly this year, when it is -30 degrees or whatever ridiculous temperature it was in the Midwest, we'll be glad to get on that plane and come visit everyone. After all, Arizona was our first home, and who can resist citrus trees, swimming pools, cacti, and so much sun! To all of you back in the Midwest, we hope to see you this summer, and to all of you here in Arizona, let's enjoy the last few months!!!

Our New Kitchen

Today is our last day home alone with mommy, and we made our weekly trip to Wal-Mart this morning for a few necessities, and a few not so necessary items as well. Mom has been looking at this kitchen for months now since we love anything interactive, and Wal-Mart had it on clearance today so mom took the bait. She told us it is because we've been so good while dad's been away...we say that works for us mom! Mom even set it up for us when we got home so we could play with it right away. Lily's favorite part is the fridge. My favorite part is the light, and I thought maybe I could wash my stinky feet in the sink, but I guess I'm a little too big. Oh well!

Pigtails and Hugs

My new favorite thing to do is give people bear hugs. I tried perfecting my bear hug on Lily today, but I don't think she liked it too much. She was more interested in her new pigtails that mom gave her. Although, from the look on her face I'm not sure she likes those too much either.

Spoons

Mom dreads it when we eat with a spoon because it almost always leads to a bath. Well tonight, mom was daring, and she let us eat our entire dinner with a spoon. I still prefer using my hands, and I sometimes even cheat and use my left hand to put the food on the spoon, but I still try. Don't get me wrong, I like spoons, but the food seems to get to my mouth so much faster when I use my hands. Lily still hasn't figured out which hand she should use so she just switches back and forth. I keep telling her to use her hands, but she is determined to get this spoon thing. We somehow managed to eat almost all of our sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese, and I'm happy to say we both did it using our spoons - for most of it at least. The broccoli was another story, but that had nothing to do with the spoons. I think mom was pretty proud of us, although we did end up in the tub afterwards.

We Love Arizona Winters

This post is for all of our family in Wisconsin and Illinois. While all of you are freezing in below zero temperatures, we are enjoying highs in the 70's. As a matter of fact I believe our high yesterday and today was 79. It is pretty rough, but I think we will survive.

All Play and No Work

We get to spend the next five days with mommy and we plan on having lots of fun! Really we have no idea what we're doing, but today was fun because we got to go to Landen and Alyssa's house for a play date. They have a cool new roller coaster that we got to try out, and we had fun with the giant rocking fish and the beads. I think we pretty much played with every toy in their playroom, and we can't wait to go back and play with them again. Lily was pretty tired after 3 hours of playing, and she kept trying to tell mommy, but it took awhile before mom finally listened to her. That's okay though because while she was laying around I was having a blast! Thanks so much Landen and Alyssa for having us over!!!

Visiting Dr. Mike

We haven't been feeling well again, and last night I didn't sleep through the night, which apparently is a red flag in mom and dad's world that something isn't right. Lily hasn't slept through the night since she had croup and that isn't alarming, but apparently if I wake up the world is coming to an end. Anyway, my waking up (and I guess my tugging on my ear) landed us in Dr. Mike's office this morning. Hopefully I remember that for next time. It wasn't so bad though. He just looked in our ears and checked our lungs, and this time our ears were labeled as "pristine". Way to go us! We were diagnosed with good old fashioned colds that consist of runny noses, nasty coughing, and grumpiness. My ear tugging is the result of teething, and I don't think the pain is ever going to go away. All things considered though we are in pretty good spirits and we are ready to take on the world.

Haircut #2

I got my haircut again. It was getting a little long around the ears so Boris, my barber, shaved it off. I was a little scared of the razor at first since I had forgotten what it was like, but after awhile I was fine. Lily and I even got a lollipop for being so good which made it all worth it!

Lazy Weekend

We had a pretty casual, lazy weekend. We spent all day Saturday watching Marquette basketball at Uncle Bryce's and then Cardinals football at Uncle Larry and Aunt Pam's. Braden is pulling up on things now so we were teaching him all about his train, not that he needs our help, but we offered it to him anyway. The whole family, except me, is sick again so we weren't up to doing too much.

9-7

Welcome to my world with teeth, and as you can see it is not a very pleasant one at the moment. Don't get me wrong, teeth are great for a lot of things such as eating and biting people with, but whoever decided that it had to hurt when they came in should be put in time-out. My seventh tooth cut through last night and mom said it looks like another one may be coming soon. When is the pain going to end???

When Life Gives You Lemons...

...pick them! Our lemon tree, which mom and dad planted three years ago, finally has lemons. We were running around in the backyard today when dad spotted 9 of them on the bottom of the tree. How fun! Lily also spent some quality time playing in the sprinklers while outside. I know better than to get wet, but I did accidentally step in Wrigley's poop. Yuck! After that little incident, mom made us go inside, but that was fine by me since I got to play with my new Big Wheel. Our world is great!

Health Update

Mom took us to see Dr. Mike today for an ear recheck and our flu booster shots. After 14 months, we are slowly starting to warm up to Dr. Mike, even though we still think his beard is a little scary. Our ears were rated as "gorgeous" and in spite of Lily still having a slight sinus infection we received an overall clean bill of health. They did weigh us with clothes on, and I was an astounding 27 pounds 1 ounce, and Lily was 22 pounds 10 ounces. Mom said she was proud of how well we took our shots this time. Both of us cried upon getting the shot, but as soon as mom picked us up things were all better. She did use the cup of milk trick again which always seems to help. She did warn us that we have to go back in a month for our 15 month check-up where there will be shots so I guess we should start preparing ourselves now for the trauma. After the doctor, we got to go over to Landen and Alyssa's house to play for awhile. They have so many cool toys like a swing, a motorized airplane, a play gym with a slide, and a piano. Well, we're off, but we just wanted to let you know that all is good in our world now that our ears are clear!

New Year's Day

Did you know that we love babies? Well, we do, and we started off 2009 in a great way by hanging out with some old friends, and by meeting a new friend, Lexie Kyger. Aunt Melinda and Uncle Mark had her on December 10 so she is only a few weeks old. Lily got to play with her super long toes, but we definitely need to hang out with her again sometime soon since all she did was sleep. Welcome to our world Lexie!
