Memorial Day Weekend

We headed up to the cottage for Memorial Day weekend, and what a beautiful weekend it was. The weather was perfect, which allowed for lots of outdoor fun. Our one goal was to go fishing with our cool new poles. I quickly jumped onto the boat, but Lily was a little less thrilled when she came aboard. We never made it off the dock...Lily refused to go, and I couldn't go without my sissy. No worries though, everyone joined us in fishing off the dock, and we were just as happy even though we didn't catch a single thing. We also made time for baseball and swimming in the world's smallest kiddie pool. Everyone else enjoyed the lake, but unfortunately the previous boat incident made the big pool (aka lake) a little too scary. We ended each evening with what else but smores. We usually ended up not finishing our smore and just eating a marshmallow, and somehow Lily was able to convince Mom that "just one" meant "just one for each hand"...genius! It is always a good time at the cottage in our world!

Pool Party

We have good news and bad news. The good news is we still love to swim. The bad news is one of our pools didn't survive the move. We never thought we'd make it into the pool before June, but here we are on day two of swimming. One of our pools cracked during the move so it only holds a small amount of water, but we decided it is worth sharing the other one since playing in the pool is so much fun! Wrigley seems to enjoy laying in the empty pool too as long as Mom keeps spraying him with the hose. We tried it out as well, and we think we understand why he enjoys it. Hopefully this is a good sign of fun times to come this summer in our world!

Potty Training

I have been dabbling with the potty for just under a year, but it is now official, I have begun the process of potty training. Mom decided that Monday was p-day, potty day, the day I would begin wearing all of my cool Minnie, Tinkerbell, and Princess underwear that I have been picking out over the last few months. Although tedious, the process really isn't all that bad, and I have been accident free for two days in a row now. Mom claims three since the last accident I had was on Dad's watch, but wet pants are wet pants in my book. I've managed to maintain my busy schedule which has included trips to Babies R Us, the park, and other various locations; the key is locating the bathroom everywhere you go or having a portable potty. This big girl stuff is pretty exciting, and I'll admit I love when everyone cheers for me. Now we just need Ryan to show some interest in his potty so he can join in on the fun in our world!

Another New Friend

Our friend, Gracie, is now a big sister so we headed over to her house this morning to meet Claire. We of course took advantage of each and every toy covering every square inch of the living room and dining room as we played. We helped Gracie sing to Baby Claire, and we took some time to perfect our yoga skills. Lily and Gracie became potty buddies while using the bathroom together...must be a girl thing. We didn't want to leave when Mom said the dreaded words "time to go home", but we managed after giving lots of hugs and high fives. We definitely want to spend more time with Gracie and Claire in our world!

Wrigley's Bed is Just Right

I've been in my big girl bed for almost two whole weeks, and things have been going well for the most part. I definitely don't wander the halls near as much as Ryan did when he made the switch, but every once and awhile I can't help myself. I'll admit I have snuck into bed with Mommy and Daddy a few times without them even noticing, but last night I found a comfy spot that I could have all to myself...Wrigley's bed. I made sure to bring all of the comforts from home with...Pluto, my blankie, bunny, and my water. Wrigley is such a good sharer and didn't seem to mind that I had taken over his bed. I'm not sure how long I slept there, but I'm pretty sure I was there for at least a few hours. Mom eventually realized that I was in Wrigley's bed. She of course wanted to know what I was doing. I simply let her know that I couldn't sleep so I found a new bed, and then I made sure to tell her that Wrigley's bed was pretty dirty and she should wash it. I'm just doing things Lily's way here in our world!

Big Girl Bed

I have finally made the switch to a big girl bed, although it wasn't easy. On Friday I made the choice to start climbing out of my crib on a regular basis. I was very excited for Daddy to convert my crib last night, until the moment he actually took the first screw out. I'll admit I cried and kept telling Mommy and Daddy that I wanted to sleep in my baby crib. I was so upset that I wouldn't let Mommy take my picture last night in my new bed. Daddy stayed with me for awhile though and I finally fell asleep. I woke up a few times during the night, but I was tough and stayed in my room. This morning I felt much better about the whole situation and I finally let Mom snap a quick picture. Being a big girl is a rough job in our world!

Swing Set

For our second birthday, about six months ago, we received a swing set and this weekend we were finally able to help Pop Pop build it in our backyard. With each new piece he connected we couldn't help but ask "Is it ready yet?". We were able to help him out some, but spent most of our time jumping in puddles, chasing butterflies, and playing hide-seek with Gigi. There are still a few things to be done, but it is usable and that is all we care about. We made sure to try out everything. Lily's favorite is the swing, and my favorite is the super fast green slide. The picture doesn't show it, but Pop Pop made a sandbox underneath the swing set so no more plastic containers full of sand for us. We're big time now in our world!
