Beautiful Butterfly

Today I was able to enjoy a classmate's birthday party at Pigments Art Studio in Cedarburg.  I arrived in my cocoon, all bundled up in my hat, mittens, and coat; and left as a beautiful butterfly.  It was definitely my kind of party with nail and face painting, fairy wings, tiaras, wands, and fairy dust.  A good time with good friends!!!

Finally Frosty

It has been a pretty miserable 10 days in our house for the little and big people alike, but things are starting to  improve for the little people at least.  Since Daddy is now down with pneumonia, Mom took the opportunity to get us outside to enjoy some of the above freezing temperatures.  These days have been few and far between this winter so we had to take advantage of it while the opportunity existed.  We played a little king of the hill, dug a snow tunnel, and enjoyed the return of Frosty (which we've been waiting for all winter).  It's nights like this that make this winter bearable here in our world!

Be Mine

There is something about Valentine's Day that gets our hearts pumping, and this year we got to celebrate a whole day early due to the fact that we don't have school tomorrow.  Out of all of the school parties, this is one of the best simply because we always come home with a whole bag full of goodies.  This year Lily almost missed out on the festivities thanks to, or I should say no thanks to, a nasty bout of pneumonia.  For three long days she was stuck at home with Mom, but thanks to a yucky dose of antibiotics and a lot of rest, her fever finally broke.  Mom worked it out with the teacher, and Lily was able to come to school for just a few hours today so she could join in on all of the fun!  She had to stay indoors for recess, but I gladly volunteered to stay in with her and help her complete some of her missed work.  We enjoyed every moment, especially exchanging cards with our classmates.  We LOVE Valentine's Day (and candy)!!!

Ready for Valentine's

Valentine's 2014...check!  We spent the afternoon filling out our Valentine's.  We have the day off this Friday, which is Valentine's Day, so we'll be celebrating with our class a day early.  My cards this year include a variety of Valentine's jokes along with a box of stickers attached to each one.  Lily's cards include a heart maze along with a Valentine's pencil.  We can't wait to see what Valentine's we receive as well!!!

Winter Frolic

If you can't beat them, join them was the saying for today.  Since there is no end in sight for this brutally cold winter weather, we decided to make the best of it and bundle up and head outside for the Mequon Nature Preserve's Winter Frolic.  We enjoyed a little ice fishing, a sleigh ride courtesy of Kelly and Sally (two beautiful Belgian Draft Horses), a tractor ride, and an indoor farmer's market complete with hot chocolate.  The weather was actually picture perfect, with a light snow falling, and the temperatures cold, but not too cold.  It gave us a good excuse to head outdoors, which we were grateful for since we haven't had a lot of opportunities to do that this winter.

Toothless

I have officially reached another major milestone in life...I lost my first tooth!  I've had a few wiggly ones for a couple months now, but just last week one became a little more wiggly than all the rest.  Then last night I noticed that I could pull it all the way forward.  Minutes later as I was taking a bite out of my pizza, voila, it was gone!  Daddy thought I swallowed it, but I fished it out of a pocket in my cheek as tears streamed down my face.  I'm not sure if I cried because I was scared, or just because I didn't know what to do.  It was a bit sore at first, but Mom gave me a cold washcloth to suck on and the bleeding stopped almost immediately.  I quickly wiped my tears away, and then the excitement of what had just happened set in.  Losing a tooth meant that the Tooth Fairy could finally visit our house!!!  Waking up this morning (a bit earlier than usual), I discovered that she had delivered.  Under my pillow was five whole dollars and a chocolate gold coin. She also left a sweet note about how well I've been doing in taking care of my teeth.  Now that the trauma drama of losing my first tooth is behind me, I'm pretty sure I can handle the next nineteen in stride (especially if it involves more gold chocolate coins)!!!
