Little Apple Pickers

We've been looking forward to today for over a week since the entire day revolves around friends, apple cider doughnuts, hay rides, a corn maze, climbing trees, and more apples than one could possibly eat in an entire lifetime.  This day has become an annual event in our lives since moving to Wisconsin, and we love sharing it with the Lard family!  This year it was a bit chilly, especially for it being so early in September, but that couldn't stop us from enjoying the day.  We started at the corn maze this year, which took us quite awhile since we had five different opinions at every turn on which direction we should go.  In the end we found every checkpoint though thanks to a little help from the moms and eventually the dads.  Next, it was onto the orchards to try every variety of apple they had...Cortland, Macoun, McIntosh, Golden-Delicious, and our new favorite, Zestar, just to name a few.  Our goal was to climb to the tippy top of every tree, which is no easy feat when there are five of us in the tree.  When all was said and done we had probably eaten enough apples to fill us for a week, which resulted in us literally rolling down the hill.  I guess all of this fun explains why I'd still like to be an apple picker when I grow up!

First Grade Reality

At bedtime, which came earlier than anticipated, we without argument jumped into bed and were out like a light!  Even though a day in first grade seemed to go by quicker then kindergarten, I guess we were still exhausted from all of the activity(even though we'll never admit it).

First Grade is Awesome!

We made it to first grade and survived to tell you all about it!  The bus did pick us up this year which is a step in the right direction (we won't count the fact that he had to slam on his brakes in front of our house).  We arrived at school in one piece and waited patiently for the bell to ring.  For the first time since 3K we are in separate classrooms, but there were no worries here since we're old pros at this school thing.  My favorite thing was seeing so many of my old friends, and Lily, when asked, shouted "The whole day!"  We rode the bus home as well, which took a whopping 40 minutes!  Add that to the fact that we left school 25 minutes late, and we didn't get home until after 5:00PM.  Even with that little hiccup the first day of first grade seemed to fly by, and we're both excited to go back for day number two because first grade is awesome!
