Maxwell's Nine Month Checkup

The word(s) of the day today: NO SHOTS! Maxwell had his nine month checkup today and we received lots of good news which included the fact that no shots were needed. Max continues to keep plugging along growing as expected. His little wiggly body came in at 28" (34.5%) and 21 pounds 4 ounces (76.56%). His brains keep growing too with his head measuring in at 48cm (99.12%). Dr. Hagerman was pleased with all of his numbers, and he was especially happy to hear that Max had slept through the night the past three nights. We're hoping he turned a corner and finally figured out that no one else is up (or wants to be up) between the hours of 2am and 4am. His next visit isn't until he is the big "1" and we can't wait to see what changes Mom can report on at that visit.

Maxwell - Nine Months

Maxwell is 3/4 of the way to being one year old! Crazy how time flies! Maxwell is officially a mover and a groover now that he is crawling. He sometimes does the one legged hitch, and other times he crawls on all fours. Both are effective means of transportation, and we often find ourselves chasing after him so he doesn't get into any trouble. He has even mastered getting up the stair from the family room to the dining room, but getting down is another story. He can push to sit quickly now and pulls himself up on everything from furniture to the dog. He wears 12 month clothes although sometimes the pants can be a little long on his short legs. Food is still a centerpiece in Maxwell's life, and we still haven't found anything he absolutely refuses to eat. Some new favorites are king crab legs, breakfast sausages, and Italian sausage. Now that he has a few teeth he is getting good at biting things which includes our fingers every now and then. Max is pretty consistently sleeping 6-8 hour stretches at night now, and he's even given us a few 10 hour stints as well. He still takes two naps a day, but these can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on something we have yet to figure out. He still babbles like crazy, but no true words have emerged just yet. Max loves to give "huggies" and bury his little head into your chest. His "huggies" are truly the best! He experienced his first cold this month and along with lots of sneezes came lots of nose wipes which he did not enjoy one bit. It was definitely another busy month and with summer right around the corner there will be so much more for Max to explore.

Pools Open!

Today was opening day for the pool, and the weather cooperated meaning fun in the sun! This was Maxwell's first time at the club pool and he was fascinated with everything. The water was a bit chilly so every time Mom tried to put his feet in the water he would hold them up in the air. Eventually though he braved the chill, and he even took a dip in the big pool with Dad. He enjoyed himself so much that he passed out poolside. Oh, what a life!

Picture Perfect

A few months ago Mom received an email from the company she ordered our birth announcement/Thanksgiving/Christmas card from. They said we were so cute (those may not have been their exact words) that they wanted to use our images on their website. Well, their 2017 cards are finally up on their site and just look at whose cute faces adorn their cards! Minted is sure to sell lots of cards thanks to three of the cutest kids!

Ms. Degen's Tailgate

My teacher, Ms. Degen, held a tailgate party tonight for the whole class and our families. It was a baseball themed event so we of course dressed in our finest Cubs gear, which just happens to be my teacher's favorite team as well! Every student was presented with a game ball that had the character trait that represented them best on it. It was fun celebrating as a class and seeing everyone outside of school. My friends had fun with Maxwell too, with lessons on how to dish out high fives and knuckles! Ms. Degen really hit it out of the park with everything she did for us tonight...GRAND SLAM!!!

Quick Trip

Dad was out of town for five days so we decided to head up to Green Bay for one night so we could hang out with Grandma and AJ. We got to see Teresa and Uncle Robb as well, and we visited Grandpa Wayne at the cemetery. We managed to squeeze a lot into 24 hours!

Glimpses of Fun

It's been a week of illness here in our family with all of us, one by one, getting knocked out by a quick stomach bug. Mom and Maxwell seemed to escape somewhat unscathed, but they came down with colds instead which are lingering well beyond their welcome. Somehow we managed to catch a few glimpses of fun though in between all of the moments of sickness. Mom, Lily, and Max even made it to their first baseball game of the season where I made my pitching debut. I also was behind the plate as catcher where my main job is to move my body in various positions to stop all balls from getting by since kid pitch can be a bit wild at times!

Crawling

It's official, we have a crawler! Something clicked this morning in little Maxwell's head and he figured out how to go forwards! His crawl isn't always conventional as he often raises one leg to push off his foot, but it is efficient so who cares! We were so busy cheering him on that we didn't notice until hours later that his second tooth popped though his gums. Maxwell is leading quite an exciting life right now!

First Tooth

At some point today an itty bitty little tooth decided to make a grand appearance in Maxwell's mouth.  It broke through the gums, and just like that our happy little man became a grouchy little man (although you wouldn't guess it from these photos).

Dodgers

We are now in the full swing of baseball season. I was selected to play for the L.A. Dodgers this year and along with catching, I am trying my hand at pitching as well. It has yet to be decided as to how that will go, but I figured I'd give it a try at least because you never know.

Bubbles (and Popsicles)!

Daddy and Lily ran errands today so Mom and I took Maxwell outside to enjoy the fresh air. This of course meant that we needed to do the usual things like eating popsicles and blowing bubbles! Maxwell approved of both activities and I'm pretty certain there will be more of both in his future!

Father Daughter Dance

One of the most anticipated days of the year finally arrived and it was amazing! The annual Father Daughter Dance is always a blast, and this year it was at the Milwaukee Athletic Club. From the minute my bestie arrived we knew it was going to be a good night because our hair was exactly the same and we didn't even plan it! My bestie was able to bring along one of her little sisters this year as well and we had so much fun showing her how to party!

Feed Me

We are pretty sure Maxwell was put on this earth to eat us out of house and home as it is by far his favorite thing to do. From the snack bar at the car dealership to his highchair at home he will eat anything and everything you put in front of him. He likes simple things like peas and bananas and finer things like king crab legs. He does not discriminate when it comes to choosing what goes in his belly and we are pretty certain his first words will be something related to food!

Happy Birthday Harley!

Harley turned one today or seven in dog years if you're keeping track! It has been an interesting first year with him and as we embark on year two we are finally getting him some puppy training. We're pretty sure (no, positive) he is the sassiest dog in the class, but we're not giving up just yet. He and Maxwell are becoming best buddies. Max's first words may be "No Harley", but we're sure year two can only get better, and regardless of his flaws he is still our Harley!
