Maxwell - Eight Months

This was a month of movement as Maxwell perfected his ability to pull to stand, scootch forward on his bottom, and slither backwards. These movements get him pretty far now, and sometimes even get him into trouble. He's also darn near perfect in pushing himself to a sitting position from laying down which has resulted in Mom and Dad having to lower his crib mattress so he doesn't flip out after he then pulls himself to stand. We are convinced that he will crawl soon as he is frequently seen rocking back and forth on all fours, and when he isn't doing that he is going for the world record for baby planks. He continues to grow both outward and upward and while he wears 9 month clothing he is now venturing into 12 month clothes as well. He definitely enjoys food with some of his favorites this month being salmon and key lime pie. Max is finally sleeping in his crib after going cold turkey on our trip to Florida. He consistently takes two naps a day (sometimes three if really pooped out), and although we are still battling a few nighttime wakes he no longer needs a bottle in the middle of the night which is progress! Mom and Dad have finally started using the "cry it out" method which is slowly but surely working, although Maxwell puts up quite the fight on some nights. He'll eventually learn that Mom and Dad usually win! He continues to have a thing for iPhones, iPads, computers, and remote controls. The more buttons he can push the happier he is! He is recognizing a ton of words and is continuing to learn sign language. He babbles like crazy at times, but has yet to produce a true word. A big first for him this month was his first airplane ride to Captiva Island in Florida. He was a happy camper for the most part only crying a bit on the way home. His favorite thing on vacation was the pool where he cruised around in his float. Sand and waves were not his favorite and he preferred just lounging in his tent at the beach. Things seem to be happening fast now for Maxwell and we're sure this next month will be just as crazy!

Breakfast is Awesome

This is something the two of us can agree upon...Breakfast is Awesome!

Tree Climbing

I had a Cub Scout outing today with my whole pack at Riveredge Nature Center where we got to climb trees. Siblings were invited along, and Lily jumped at the chance to be a little monkey. We'll both admit that it was way harder than we expected it to be, but I am proud to say that I made it all the way to the top which was 40-50 feet up. Lily didn't make it all the way up due to time (and the fact that she wanted to try out some acrobatics even hanging upside down). After today I'm starting to believe that we may just be part monkey!

Diorama

Who wouldn't make a diorama in their free time complete with floating icebergs, leaping dolphins, and colorful coral?!?!

Pizza on the Farm

Thanks to Mr. Dav and Ms. Jude we got to experience Pizza on the Farm. We had to drive to New Holstein to do it, but the drive was worth it! We loved all of the animals, the huge backyard, the giant hills, the pizza, and the custard. Everything was made right on the farm and it was so delicious. WE made sure to get ourselves on the invite list for next time as well, and we can't wait to go back!

Standing

Looks like the crib mattress will need to be lowered. This is how Mom found Maxwell today after one of his naps.

The Tale of the Littlest Easter Bunny

Little man was still on Florida time when he woke up this morning at 6am. In typical fashion he had a lot to say first thing in the morning and he apparently hasn't learned to whisper quite yet. In his defense, I'm not very good at it either. Regardless, he woke all of us up so the only logical thing to do was drag Mom and Dad out of bed so that we could find our Easter baskets. We all got lots of fun stuff, although I think Max enjoyed his bunny ears the most. After breakfast we headed up to Grandma Jackie's to celebrate with family. The weather finally cooperated this year and it was dry enough that Grandma was able to hide half of our Easter eggs outside. Max loved searching for his blue eggs with Mom and Dad, and had just as much fun trying to eat all of the eggs once he was done. It was a great Easter and two big bunnies and one little bunny enjoyed every minute of it!

Captiva Island - Day 5

Today marks the end of our amazing vacation to Captiva Island. After spending a bit more time at the beach this morning we spent the afternoon roaming around town. While on the hunt to find a place to eat lunch we stumbled across The Bubble Room. Although we didn't ultimately choose to eat here, we felt it necessary to take a picture in one of the many odd things they had outside. I think this sums up how much fun Captiva is as you never know what is around the corner, and there is definitely a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy! We will definitely be back!!!

Captiva Island - Day 4

This morning we headed to the marina side of the resort to try out a different pool. This one was fun because it had water slides and Maxwell was able to sit up on one end. There were so many people though that we decided to head back to our more secluded beach in the afternoon. While Max enjoyed the shade, Lily and I built sand castles and tried to outsmart the waves. We decided to venture out in the evening for dinner to celebrate our last night on the island. We ate at Key Lime Bistro because we were told by Mr. Dav and Ms. Jude that the key lime pie was the best ever made. They do not lie, and Maxwell would agree, as after every bite he would just open his mouth and wait for someone...anyone...to give him another bite.
