Ryan's September School Work

The month of September was all about celebrating colors, and we can't forget the one day we celebrated ice cream!  We were able to dress in a different color for 11 days in a row, and Mom managed to find something that contained each and every color for us, even pink for me thanks to a little help from Grandma Jackie.  We read a different book for every color we learned about.  The Night Sky for black, The Enormous Carrot for orange, Mouse Paint for white, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? for brown, There's an Alligator Under my Bed for green day, Pinkalicious for pink day, Harold and The Purple Crayon for purple day, and some Clifford books for red and blue day.  We also started work on the numbers "0" and "1", and the letter "A".  We completed our September journals where I let everyone know that the prize box is what I like best about school and that hiding in the leaves is my favorite thing about Fall.  We ended September by starting our apple unit, which we will continue with into October.  It was a busy month at school here in our world!

Lily's September School Work

We bombarded Mom with a ton of artwork today.  Mrs. Stark loves to decorate her classroom with all of our masterpieces, and then she sends them home at the end of every month.  Now, Mom has the pleasure of hanging it all up at our house times two!

Karate

I've been looking forward to karate for quite some time, and tonight my first class finally arrived.  We learned ready position, front drops, punches, and a few kicks.  I even did so well that I earned a purple ribbon for behavior.  Mom said my ears must have been super clean because she's never seen me move so fast when told to do something.  Hi-Yah (or Kiai in karate language) is all I have to say here in our world!

Who Done it???

Immediately upon leaving school today Mom knew something was wrong.  I was walking really slow, and my eyes were all teary.  The only thing I could get out was that someone cut my hair, but I failed to mention that the someone was me.  It was enough hair that Mom was able to immediately spot the area I had cut, but not so much that my curly hair won't be able to cover it up.  My teacher couldn't offer up any other information so that meant it was up to Mom to get it out of me.  I finally broke and told her the truth.  After writing an apology to Mrs. Stark, I guess I can say lesson learned here in our world!

Wild Child

We think we are slowly discovering who is going to be the wild child...any guesses?

Bumper Bowling

Dad and Mr. Tom surprised us last night by taking us bumper bowling at the annex at Marquette. We couldn't contain our excitement after finding out our plans, and we had so much fun. We tried our hardest to get a strike, but didn't get too upset when this never happened...Dad never got one either! Mom and Dad tried to help us with our form, which we must say improved significantly from frame to frame. My first throw involved me running across two lanes and then I fell on my behind after launching the ball into the air. I soon realized the game was about "rolling" the ball, and that I had to start and end in my lane. Lily caught on right away to the rules and used the bumpers to bounce her way down the lane. Ours scores may be a direct indication of just how new we are to this game, but who's counting anyway!

One Week and Counting

We have survived our first week of 4K.  I even made the school website as you can see!  School is a whole new ballgame this year.  We go to a different special (i.e., gym, art, music, technology, library) each day, and we even go to church this year.  We get assigned classroom jobs to help out with Lily and I both being assigned door holder the first week.  This week we start show and tell, which we have every Thursday.  I am bringing my cool angry bird and Lily is bringing her cheesehead since it falls on the day of the Packer/Bears game.  Our color unit started on September 7 and it runs for 11 days.  This is Lily's saving grace since we don't have to be in uniform for these 11 days, instead we get to dress in the color of the day.  She will be devastated when September 24 rolls around and that jumper has to come back out of her closet.  We have gotten used to drop off, and make it to the gym all by ourselves before the bell rings!  It did take Lily a few days to warm up to all of the changes, but we are loving 4K.  We love being able to check out books, work on ipads, and go to specials.  Hopefully the next 30+ weeks are just as exciting as week 1!!!

First Day of 4K

We are officially growing up way too fast according to Mom and Dad, as today we started 4K. This year we are at the same school, Lumen Christi, but we have uniforms. Thank goodness Lily is able to add a little bling to her uniform with hair accessories and sparkly Lelli Kelly shoes or else we may never hear the end of how much she dislikes having to have things tucked in. We also have cool new backpacks that have buckles all over the place which is a good thing in my opinion because it would be terrible if my orange dinosaurs fell off. The morning started with Mom dropping us off bright and early - so early in fact, that she had to wake me up so we wouldn't be late. She was able to walk to our classroom with us, or at least behind us as we took off ready to start our day. The parents got to stay and listen to the story, The Kissing Hand, read by our new teacher, Mrs. Stark. Mom didn't get to listen to much of it though because she was in the hall searching for my backpack with the aide. In all of the excitement I accidentally hung it on my new friend, Roman's hook and his bag was so big it completely covered mine...at least it starts with an "R". She made it back into the room in time for us to give hugs and kisses and say goodbye though.  To be continued...

Last Hurrah

We dropped off our supplies, our uniforms are washed and ready, and we met our teacher so the only logical thing for us to do was to head up north for the long weekend for one last hurrah before school starts. At the last minute AJ decided to join us which made the weekend even more fun. We filled our days with building forts, playing at the beach, driving the jeep ("BEEP BEEP BARBIE JEEP"), visiting the candy store, and we even managed a quick ride to our dock on the neighbor's pontoon. We took the relaxation station out as well so we could swim in the lake, but the trip was short lived after discovering it was slowly sinking due to a hole in the bottom. The weekend also developed into our own episode of animal planet after capturing ten frogs in Lily Lake and Ryan Flowage (the bodies of water we created while at the beach), and discovering a blue spotted salamander in the wood pile. After so much fun we are relaxed and ready for 4K to begin so bring it on!!!
