Ryan's May School Art

If you haven't guessed it from looking at all of our wonderful artwork, May was farm month...farmers, tractors, chickens, horses, pigs, cows, sheep, and crops.  You name something farm related, we probably made it.  We also had some flowers from art class thrown in, as well as a house, butterfly, and ladybug.  Nothing like getting it all in before the final bell here in our world!

Play Ball

After a few nights of practice we are apparently good enough to play in a real game, or at least we'd like to believe we are.  I had a few hits (and a few misses) and I made sure to try my best in being the first one to all of the ground balls.  We played hard for the full hour with only half of the team requiring a potty break during the game; and just so we have it on record...I was not one of those kids!  I'm thinking we may need to invest in a batting helmet for my unusually large head.  We only have one helmet that fits me, and it is never available when I get up to bat.  The coach seems to think the pink helmet may fit me as well, but there is no way I'd be caught wearing a pink helmet here in our world!

Down on the Farm

We ended our farm unit, and pretty much our 4K careers with a field trip to Mrs. Melichar's dairy farm.  The forecast didn't look too hopeful for a dry day, but God must have heard our prayers, because it was beautiful and sunny!  We visited with all of the Brown Swiss and Holstein cows, and we met the baby calves and the farm dog.  It was rather stinky if you ask me, but we learned a lot and got to take home some fun stuff as well.

Memorial Day Weekend 2013

Another great Memorial Day weekend is in the record books!  2013 brought with it nice weather (60's/70's) yet again, and lots of time for fun.  We of course got in a little fishing, where Lily scored the record for smallest fish in the lake.  We ventured into town and stopped at the candy store, because a trip to the cottage without stopping here just wouldn't be complete.  Lily and Elizabeth stayed busy performing dance recitals for us, and I even got in on the action choreographing my own act "The Smashing of the Ant Hill with a Croquet Mallet".  Elizabeth and Lily thought it was so good that I was the finale of the first recital!  I tried out Elizabeth's BB gun for the first time and if you look closely that is my shot right next to the center of the heart...beginners luck maybe, but I think it is because I'm awesome!  We also enjoyed the camp fires, sparklers, and made s'mores which is kind of tradition.  One night we celebrated E's birthday instead though with an ice cream cake made by Aunt Claire which was pretty good as well!  Uncle Steve took us for rides on the boat and in the trailer which is always fun, and we stayed busy playing referee for Wrigley and Moose.  I think Wrigley won the battle, but Moose fought a tough fight.  We also enjoyed a scavenger hunt thanks to Dad, with the last clue leading us to "a sweet lady" and the prize being a giant bag of M&M's.  I, being the sweet lady's favorite, knew immediately that Dad was referring to Grandma.  Elizabeth and Lily took way too long figuring that one out! We are definitely exhausted after such a busy weekend, but only a few more days of school and then we can catch up on all of our missed sleep!

Look Mom, No Training Wheels

Notice anything different about my bicycle...that's right it is training wheel free!  I made it the whole length of the driveway today without crashing.  I was distracted a bit by the fact that I wanted to play golf so I didn't ride for long, but give me a few more tries and who knows, I may just show up at your front door!

Down on the Farm

The month of May has been farm month at school, and today we learned about farmers.  To help us get in the mood, we were able to scrap the uniforms and come to school dressed as a farmer.  Too bad we couldn't drive our gator to school, because that would have been true farmer style!

Weather Kid - Lily

Tonight it was my turn to shine and enjoy my 30 seconds of fame as a Weather Kid on the 10:00 pm news.  Of course my turn fell on an unseasonably cold night which kind of threw a kink in my wardrobe plans.  I may not have gotten to wear a dress like I requested, but at least I brought back the sun!

An Ordinary Day

Outside of the fact that today was Mother's Day, it really was a pretty ordinary day.  We mowed the lawn, played on our swing set, played a little baseball, pouted on top of the hill (about what, I do not even remember), and had a concert using my drums.   Nothing wrong with ordinary here in our world!!!

Two Tired Rats

Here is what happens after a long day of school and play dates.  Apparently I was so tired that I wandered into Lily's room and passed out in her bed.  Can't say I remember any of it so I guess I'll just have to take Mom's word.  We were two tired rats here in our world.

Weather Kid - Ryan

I had my 30 seconds of fame last night and again this morning on the local news.  I was featured as the weather kid, and did a great job letting everyone know that today was going to be wet and rainy!  Stay tuned for Lily's TV debut this coming Sunday night!

A Hunting We Will Go

I live for play dates.  Boys, girls, one kid, or five kids, it doesn't matter...count me in!  Today's play date was unique in that my friend, Drew, had a group of us over for a picnic and scavenger hunt in his yard.  We had a blast running around following the clues Drew's mom had provided us, and we each went home with a bunch of goodies and tummies full of ice cream.  It was a great afternoon here in our world!

Father-Daughter Dance

Tonight, was a special evening for Daddy and me, as we danced the night away at the Milwaukee Athletic Club's Father-Daughter Dance.  What made it even more special is that my BFF, Katelyn got to join us with her dad as well!  We enjoyed sipping on kitty cocktails and lemonade, dancing Gangnam style, eating pretty cupcakes, and being silly in the photo booth.  It is always guaranteed to be a good time when I get to be all dolled up here in our world!
