Four Little Monkeys

We met Ms. Mary and Margo at the zoo today and spent two hours cruising from animal to animal. Max slept through most of it which just means that we'll have to go back soon!

The Undertakings of an Eleven Month Old

What is an eleven month old to do? It is more like, what can't an eleven month old do? Walking, talking, modeling, climbing up stairs, climbing down stairs, unlatching dog kennels, playing the piano, and going just about anywhere those little legs will take him! Another tooth popped out too for a grand total of five so far. We're also working on mastering the sippy cup...that's still a work in progress!

Discovery World

We finally cashed in on the one year family membership to Discovery World that I earned for selling Girl Scout cookies! Ryan and I have been here before for field trips, but Mom, Dad, and Max are Discovery World rookies! On this trip we touched Sting Rays, Horseshoe Crabs, and Lake Sturgeon. We also tried out the nail bed, toured the aquarium, and played with robots. We even took a swim in the ocean using virtual reality. There is so much to do here that it is a good thing we have a whole year to discover it all!

Puerto Rican Festival

Mom stumbled across an advertisement for the 5th annual Puerto Rican Festival a fews weeks ago and we didn't need much convincing to go! Max represented well wearing his Powered by Pasteles shirt. We all ate well too...arroz con gandules, pastelillos, bacalaitos, budin, and Coco Rico soda. The sites and sounds were amazing, and we are already planning to go back next year!

Bernie Brewer

I was given four free tickets to a Brewers game through the Brewers Baseball Academy that I went to back in July. Mom and Dad found a sitter for Maxwell, and along with Lily, we headed to Miller Park. Upon our arrival some gentleman stopped me and gave both Lily and I a free pack of baseball cards. That alone made my night! The game was not very exciting unfortunately, and we're not just saying that because we are Cubs' fans. Due to the lack of action we ventured downstairs to try out the play area. Lily went down Bernie's slide, and we raced Bernie to first base. I almost beat him, only coming in .05 seconds behind him. We also happened to run into the actual Bernie Brewer. He was on his way to some game day activity, but he snuck out to take a picture with us. A few people lined up behind us, but he ran off as soon as Mom snapped the picture. We then headed home around the seventh inning, and as we were leaving one of the security guards stopped me and gave me all of the loose change that had been left behind that night when people went through the metal detectors. Overall the night turned out to be great with all the luck we had...too bad we couldn't rub some of it off on the Brewers players!

Cubs Win!

Our cousins, the Lechtenbergs, came up to visit us for the night. We, along with over 20,000 other Cubs fans, enjoyed a Cubs win at Miller Park! It was an exciting game that went eleven innings...appropriate since it was on Maxwell's eleven month birthday! We had so much fun that we collectively decided to make this a yearly tradition.

Maxwell - Eleven Months

Only one more month before this little man turns the big 1! He continues to crawl everywhere and he is fast!  He can stand unassisted for a little while and cruising along the furniture is an is more like an all out sprint. He has taken a few unassisted single steps, but isn't yet walking per say. We all think he can walk, but he just doesn't realize it yet. Everyone continues to tell us he is the happiest baby on earth and we can't disagree. He does cry a bit more now when Mom isn't around, but he'll learn soon enough that it is okay. He also screams a bit when told to wait, but is slowly learning the meaning of patience. He is mainly in 18 month clothing now, but squeezing into a few summer 12 month items mainly because Mom refuses to buy new stuff since summer is coming to an end. He is still very food driven, but we did find one item he doesn't care for, scrambled eggs. It isn't that he won't eat them, it's more of the face he makes when he does eat them. Hanging out with his big brother and big sister continues to be a favorite activity. He can now blow kisses, give high fives, and wave. We just love teaching him new things everyday! A new favorite we are working really hard on is talking. His first word this past month was "dada" and what sounds like some version of "hi" or "hey". He also says "Lily" or "Harley"...we aren't sure which one quite yet, or if it is both, but it is obvious that one of their names is being uttered. With only one month to go we have confidence that more big things are in the works in Maxwell's world!
