Busy 15 Month Old

Now that Maxwell is 15 months old he pretty much understands that he is probably the cutest thing in our house and he can get away with just about anything. One of his favorite things to do is go through the cabinets in the kitchen and pull out everything he can get his little hands on. This is a daily occurrence and has resulted in a lot of messes (but a few cute pictures as well). We've also learned that he really is watching everything we do with his newest acquisition turning him into Chef Maxwell. With hot pads up to his armpits he tries to open the oven door and the word "HOT" is being uttered constantly. His smile is getting bigger too with 10 teeth filling that little mouth now! He continues to amaze us every day and our smiles are bigger too because of him!

Jolly Old St. Nick

We must be doing something right because St. Nick came last night and filled our stockings with all sorts of fun stuff! He remembered our Christmas pjs too! Our Elf arrived as well so now with Jingles watching our every move we have to make sure we are being extra good!

Santa

We took a quick trip this evening to visit Santa at Bayshore Town Center. We've been eagerly waiting to tell him exactly what we want this year, and Mom really wanted Dad to be able to join us so she frantically searched for a location he'd be at this evening so we could make the trek. She succeeded, and so did we! We made sure to let him know what Max wanted too, even though Max wasn't quite as happy to see him as we were.

The Perfect Tree

It was Operation Christmas Prep at our house this weekend since Dad was home. First on our list was picking out the perfect tree! We were especially excited to cut down our tree again this year since last year we resorted to a Charlie Brown tree from Home DePot because of Dad's accident. The trees seemed particularly large this year so we ended up cutting one off in the middle to make sure it would fit in our house and it was still almost 10 feet tall. Max even got in on the action this year running from row to row, and he enjoyed the fire pit as well!

The Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker

I was given an amazing opportunity this year, along with about 50 other girls from the Milwaukee area, to perform with the Moscow Ballet in their Great Russian Nutcracker. I was lucky enough to get two parts (a Snowflake and a Little Spanish Girl) so I was on stage a few times. Watching the professional ballerinas was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, and I am so grateful to have had this experience. Being in a huge theater along side the ballerinas is definitely something I will never forget!

Gingerbread Houses

First up on the Christmas traditions checklist this year, Gingerbread Houses. We headed to the Milwaukee Athletic Club tonight where Ryan and I spent almost an hour decorating our houses.

15 Months - Maxwell

Maxwell turned 15 months old yesterday! He was able to delay his 15 month checkup by one day, but inevitably he had to go to the doctor, and he was not too happy about it. The minute the nurse walked out he froze refusing to walk into the office himself. He then screamed for every little thing - getting measured, getting weighed, having his ears checked...the list goes on and on. He came in at 26 pounds 9 ounces (92%) and 30.75 inches (33%). He is finally crawling back up the growth chart, and the nurse even said she probably could have squeezes another quarter inch out of him, but she didn't want to make him too angry. His head measured in at 50cm (99%) so his brains just keep on growing too! Everything else checked out well, and Dr. Hagerman managed to get the tiniest smile out of Max when he pulled out his glitter balls to juggle. He is starting to use words saying dup/bop for up, mama, dada, Dy for Ryan, and he imitates multiple things. He still uses signs for more, eat, all done, milk, and thank you. He also shakes his head yes and no, with no seeming to be the favored direction. We ended the visit with two vaccines which left Max in a blubbering mess. He survived though and won't have to go back for three more months, unless he manages to get himself into trouble.

Steve's Traveling Snake Show

Ryan's Cub Scout Pack had a pack meeting tonight and invited a special guest to join them. Steve's Traveling Snake Show entertained the kids for over an hour, and although Ryan refused to hold a snake by himself, he did muster up the courage to touch one. He admitted that the presentation was pretty cool, but he just isn't a reptile guy.

Blessed

We celebrated Thanksgiving with family in New Lenox this year. We are so blessed to have Daddy here to celebrate with us. Great Grandma's taquitos, Titi Maria's turkey, and being with our extended family sure beat last year's hospital Thanksgiving too.

Spoons

Maxwell has been working on spoon feeding, and you would never believe it after looking at this picture, but he is doing pretty good!

Line Him Up

Maxwell had his first haircut today at Follicle in the Third Ward. He joined Daddy and me and was very intrigued when we were in the chair. When his turn came around though it was a different story. He sat nicely on Daddy's lap, but he repeatedly pushed and shoved Marco's hands away while screaming in protest. We were going to have him buzzed, but after the battle he emerged with clean lines and a trim on top! We'll consider it a win for everyone!
