8 Months Old

This isn't our official 8 month picture (the ones with the cabbage patch dolls and our chair), but it was taken on our birthday. We'll post our official 8 month pictures tomorrow (7-2-08) now that the crazy tile and carpet men are gone. We have our house back again. Yeah!!!

Boy are we old! We are 8 months old today and excited to update you on everything that has been happening in our world. We are definitely getting bigger every month, but we don't have an official weigh in again until mid August. Mommy and daddy estimate that I weigh 21 pounds and Lily weighs 19 pound, but who knows if that is right. We are still good eaters and have yet to find a food we don't like. Daddy would disagree with us, he claims we hate turkey, but little does he know we have him fooled. We only cry when he feeds us turkey so that we can get more dessert. We can't trick mommy though which stinks! This month we tried carrots, turkey, peas, corn, chicken, mangos, spinach, and chicken noodle soup. Yummy!!! I am working my way out of all 9 month clothing, and wear mostly 12 month clothing now. Lily is still wearing 6-9 month clothes, although she is fitting into more and more 12 month outfits every day. We have learned a lot this month. Talking is our new favorite pastime, and we can now say "da-da". We don't 100% get what it means yet, but dad gets pretty happy when we say it. Lily cut her first two bottom teeth, but I am still toothless. I still think I'm pretty cute, but I can't wait to get a tooth of my own. Both Lily and I can now push up onto our hands and knees. We aren't always sure what to do once we get into that position, but we are slowly figuring it out. I have started crawling a bit, but I am still pretty inconsistent. I'm rolling around more, although not nearly as much as Lily. Lily discovered that she can crawl backwards. It is sort of like backwards army crawling, but it is working for her. We are still sleeping well, 10 to 12 hours a night, which keeps mom and dad happy. Life continues to be one great big adventure, and we hear this next month is going to be one of many more firsts. Stay tuned and we'll let you know what happens.

Big Kid Baths

After our long, hard day of eating, playing, and napping, mom helped us get ready for bed by giving us baths. Since our kitchen was still a mess, we got to take big kid baths for the first time. It was so much fun in the big tub, and we got to play with new rubber duckies that our Great-Aunt Mary and Great-Uncle Pat gave us. If we had a say we'd get to take big kid baths from here on out.

New Flooring

We woke up this morning and things were going smoothly, until these men arrived and started tearing apart our house. As you can see we no longer have any flooring. What was an ordinary day soon became quite an eventful day in our book.

Where are Ryan and Lily?

Kind of like the game Where's Waldo, we played where are Ryan and Lily. Since the flooring guys tore up pretty much every room in the house we had to hang out in mom and dad's room all day long with everything else we may (or may not) need. As you can see we kind of blend in, but mom found us, thank goodness. Quarters were tight, but we managed, and I even got to sleep in the swing which I haven't done in ages since I am getting so big.

What are we to do?

Since we were stuck in mom and dad's room all day we had to find something to do. Lily kept herself busy in the exersaucer, and I passed the time playing on the computer. If you look closely you'll notice I am updating the blog.

Silly Questions We Always Hear...

Mommy read this article in a magazine she gets about twins and we just had to share it with all of you. This is our life whenever we go anywhere. Welcome to our world!

"It never fails. The double stroller comes out and the spectacle begins. You'd think the circus was in town or something.... Everyone has to stop me and ask silly questions. What should be a quick five minute trip to the store, ends up taking 20 minutes.... Here are the top five most common questions I get when I go out. And the answers I'd really love to give if I wasn't so darn polite!"

Q. Oh, look! Are they twins?
A. No, Sherlock, I just had them really close together.

Q. What are they?
A. What are you...stupid? They are babies of the human variety. A boy and girl to be precise.

Q. (This question usually follows "What are they?") Are they identical?
A. Do they look identical? Please refer to my previous answer. Twins of opposite sexes are never identical. Duh!

Q. How do you tell them apart?
A. Ummm...I can't. I frequently have to take off their diapers to see which is which.

Q. Did you have them "naturally?"
A. None of your darn business! But if you must know, they are 100% organic...no synthetic materials whatsoever.

Now I Can Bite You!

I am up to three posts in one month. Holy cow! I needed to gloat and tell everyone the score is 2-0, me! My second bottom tooth is coming in, and Ryan has yet to get one. I'm not messing around here, and watch out, I bite!

Lily's First Tooth

Me again! Can you believe it, two posts in one month. I wanted to tell everyone my exciting news...I got my first tooth! You can't see it in there, but trust me it's there on the bottom. Mom actually noticed in last Wednesday, June 11, but I am just getting around to telling everyone now. I was not in very good spirits last week for obvious reasons, but I'm feeling better now. I can't wait to show everyone my pearly white!!!

Father's Day Weekend

Daddy started off his weekend by playing golf on Saturday so we hung out with Wrigley and mom, and when dad got home we enjoyed a cool drink with him. We also practiced our new trick that we learned last week...saying "dada". Daddy loves it when we say that.

Since dad hadn't seen us all day he decided we would get in some good quality play time together before dinner. Who knew Lily loved maracas so much!?!

Then on Sunday Uncle Larry, Aunt Pam, Braden, Uncle Mark, Aunt Melinda, and baby-to-be Kyger came over to swim. Even though we have a big pool, dad bought us a kiddie pool since he thought we might have fun just splashing around. I'd say we had fun, and Wrigley even joined us so he could cool off. Little did we know Wrigley had a pool just like ours when he was a baby so he knew just what to do. Mommy told us we're not allowed to dunk our heads or drink the water though. Wonder why???

No Wrestling Allowed

Mom caught Lily and I wrestling today. She wanted to know who started it and I just pointed at my bib. We had to be separated so that meant we had to find something else to do (see below).

Mom and dad often say our house looks like a Babies "R" Us with all of the toys we have. You would think, if that was the case, that Lily and I could have found something really cool to play with since we weren't allowed to wrestle anymore. As you can see I succeeded, and found a fun piano to bang out some tunes on. Lily however, found an empty toy box. Tipping an empty box back and forth doesn't sound like much fun to me, but it managed to entertain her for over 20 minutes. Look at the concentration on her face too!

Erica and Rich

Today we got to meet daddy's cousin, Erica, and her boyfriend, Rich. I guess that makes her our cousin too. They are visiting from Chicago for a few days and enjoying our 108 degree temperatures.

Babysitting Braden

Today we gave Aunt Pam the two for free special (two babysitters for free) and watched Braden for a few hours. Our job was to teach him how to drink from a bottle, but we didn't have much success. I decided to skip the bottle thing and go right for the sippy cup - that may have been too advanced. Lily tried to teach him to use a bottle, but she drank so darn fast I don't think he caught on. Oh well, we had fun playing with him anyway and hopefully he can come back soon!

Taking in the Sun

We spent the afternoon hanging out in Uncle Larry and Aunt Pam's pool. The sun was shining (which we are learning happens almost every day in Arizona) so we decided to soak up some rays. Mom, dad, and Wrigley decided to get in on the action too. We are liking the water more and more, but today we enjoyed floating on the big blue mat. Happy tanning everyone!!!

Big Kid Car Seats

As of yesterday we are permanently in our big kid car seats thanks to the fact that I am getting so gigantic! Mom and dad just decided to switch us both since that would probably be easier. Now instead of one car seat we each have two seats, one in dad's car and one in mom's car. Lucky us! We both think our new seats are pretty comfy, and of course we had to put them to the test to see if they had good nap appeal - they passed with flying colors.

Silly Lily

Hey everyone, it's me, Lily! I don't post much, but this morning I was rolling around and look where I ended up. Mom thought it was funny that I made my way into the diaper box so of course pictures had to be taken. Ryan didn't find his own way in though, mom put him in the box with me. If you look closely, you'll notice that we are both officially in size 3 diapers now. Pampers "Cruisers" as I recall which is why I have to go, gotta keep rolling!!!
