Little Mermaids

We stopped by my dance studio today to register for the Fall, and my pictures from this year's recital just happened to be ready. The little mermaids are looking pretty good here in our world!

Batter Up

With only two more weeks to go, all I have left to achieve is a home run. I've managed to hit quite a few singles this year as well as one double and a triple. Lily managed to catch me on video today if you'd care to take a peek. I think maybe the ORANGE jersey had something to do with all of my hits this year?!?!

Two Perfect Matches

This year was the first year Lily and I have been separated at school since 3K, and I'm pretty sure Donges Bay thought long and hard about where they were going to place us because they picked the perfect first grade teacher for each of us.

Mrs. Amling was the nicest teacher and she always gave the class hot chocolate whenever it snowed. As I hugged her goodbye today she teared up and thanked me for being her go-to man, and she begged me to not move. She then gave Mom the biggest hug and thanked her for bringing me into her life. She made me promise to visit her next year, which I know we will.

Then there was Lily and Ms. Bongard. Lily loved sharing her stories with her, and telling her all about our adventures. Lily even searched the Humane Society website almost daily to find her the perfect pooch, which Ms. Bongard will hopefully purchase this summer. Lily honestly cannot say one negative thing about her, even though all of her talking sometimes got her in trouble.

Both of our teachers were great about including our lives into our daily classroom activities. Daddy would send us pictures from his adventures, and both teachers would put them up on the smart board and make it into a geography or history lesson. Our favorite was when he visited Martin Luther King Jr.'s house and we both got to present for our respective classes. Like I said after the first day back in September, first grade was awesome, and Lily would like to add that it was her best year ever!

See You Later First Grade

What we once knew as first grade is over as of 12:35pm today and we will officially be second graders! Lily is frightened of moving on because it means we have to grow up, while I on the other hand am eager to get going as it means I am one year closer to graduation and the real world. So I guess this is goodbye, see you later alligator, after while crocodile, swish swish jelly fish...however you put it we had a good run, but it is true that all good things must come to an end!

Lily's First Grade Art

Ryan's First Grade Art

The number of art projects once we reached first grade significantly declined as we were expected to perform certain skills, and we were often given a week or more to complete our projects. Art only occurs in the art room as well and very rarely in the classroom. The projects here do not include everything we did this past year, but are a good representation.

Heroes Under The Sea

Today's performance was the culmination of nine months of practice...almost every Monday September through May we danced our little hearts out. This year's song was "Under the Sea", and it was only appropriate that we dressed as mini mermaids who shook our tails all over the stage! Today it was definitely better, down where it's wetter! Take it from me!!!

Budding Artist

Not often do I get to chime in twice in one day, but on another happy note, my artwork (the one on the bottom right) was chosen along with 17 other Donges Bay students, to be displayed at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.  Hopefully my "April Showers Bring May Flowers" puts a smile on someone's face:)!

Girls' Olympiad

Tonight it was my (Lily's) turn to show off my skills at the Girls' Olympiad. I was the only one in my class who was able to do the back bend into walk-over, and I had all of the parents cheering me on! We also showed our parents our floor, bar, and beam skills, and then for the grand finale we all got to climb the rope (my favorite part)!

Boys' Olympiad

Today was the North Shore Gymnastics Olympiad where I showed off my skills on rings, vault, floor, and parallel bars. I also received a certificate and a medal for all of my hard work this session.
