Last Day of 6th Grade

While we didn't end the year quite as planned, we can at least say we officially made it through sixth grade! Our first year of middle school came to an abrupt halt back on March 11. We had parent teacher conferences on the 12th and 13th, and then that Saturday, March 14, school officially closed due to the Corona Virus, AKA, Covid-19. With hopes it would be short term, the district went into planning mode. They took the first week to organize and then the second week (which was our planned spring break) to plan.  Emergency virtual learning was put into place on March 30 with both Lily and I logging in daily to complete assignments and have Zoom lessons with some of our teachers. Short term it was not, as this is how we finished off our first year of middle school as well. We did a drive through pickup of all of our bagged locker contents this past Tuesday, which was the first time we saw many our teachers in person since March. We have not seen our friends except via Zoom or social media in three months. Definitely nothing like we had envisioned it, and definitely not how we would have preferred it, but we survived and can now say we are 7th graders!
