Puerto Rico

We spent eight fabulous days exploring the island of Puerto Rico over Christmas break. Mom and Dad have been wanting to take us for awhile now and this year they pulled it off, and they even brought Titi Molly, Uncle Craig, Marc, Landon, Gigi, Pop Pops, Ginger, and David along on our adventure. We explored various corners of the island from Ponce to Luquillo, Pinones to Old San Juan, La Ruta de Lechon and El Charco Azul. We visited historical sites such as Castillo San Felipe del Morro and the Cementerio Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzi. We hiked in the only tropical rain forest in the US National Forest Service, El Yunque National Forest. Many of the trails were still closed due to Hurricane Maria back in 2017, but we managed to find a few we were able to hike. We tried every bit of food we could get our hands on including bacalaito, pasteles, pastelillos, pernil, papa rellenas, mofongo, alcapurrias, arroz con gandules, and surullitos. The list could go on and on...yum! Max even found an entire tin of Florecitas, his favorite cookie! We definitely got a good taste of what the island has to offer, and we definitely want to come back and explore more, the Isla del Encanto!
