Maxwell - Six Months

Maxwell has officially made it halfway through his first year of life, and pretty successfully we must say! Big milestones from this past month include rolling from back to tummy (although still not consistently) and sitting up. He has also discovered that his tongue can ALWAYS garner quite a reaction so he sticks it out ALL the time. Everything checked out well at the doctor today too with Maxwell measuring 26 inches (21.97%) and 17 pounds 8 ounces (49.38%). His brain keeps growing too with his head coming in at over the 98th percentile. He was given the green light to eat pretty much anything and everything with honey being the only no-no. We have yet to find a food he doesn't like so I'm sure he will be more than willing to try new things. All this food has resulted in the 6-9 month clothing being pulled out as his little belly just keeps growing and growing. He continues to enjoy games like Peek-a-Boo, and he absolutely loves tickles. We've heard true laughter this past month which is a wonderful sound. He enjoys pulling himself to a stand and he bounces with excitement sometimes so much that he almost bounces right off of Mom's lap. He is getting better at following a schedule and is taking three naps a day when allowed. He now has a bedtime around 7pm  (give or take), and although he is still not sleeping through the night, his 1-2 wakes are for just a quick feed and then he quickly falls back into dreamland. So much has happened during these first six months, and with some major milestones right around the corner we can't wait to see little Maxwell grow!

Cedarburg Art Museum

Both Lily and I had artwork chosen for the "Student Art Matters" exhibit at the Cedarburg Art Museum. It was on display for almost the whole month of February, and we made it up there at the last possible hour to check it out. Better late than never!

Grandma Chia

We finally made it to Chicago to visit Great-Grandma Chia, and she finally got to meet her 100th great-grandchild. That's right 1...0...0. Amazing!

Growing Up

As Max nears 6 months of age he is growing fast and almost daily he provides us with evidence of this. He is almost too big for his bathtub, he can finally see over the top of his highchair tray, and he is able to sit in the shopping cart. What's next?!?!

Pink Eye

We have gotten our first experience of a not so happy Maxwell due to yucky pink eye. Ryan had it two weeks ago and we thought the rest of us escaped unscathed, but we couldn't be so lucky, and poor Maxwell is the one who caught it. Surprisingly when he woke up this morning with his eye swollen shut he was still a happy little dude, but by mid morning things went South quickly, so much so that Mom decided to load us in the car and take Max to the doctor. Everything else checked out clear so eye drops it is, and hopefully smiley little Max comes back soon!

***UPDATE***
Apparently a few eye drops and a nap is all that was needed...old Maxwell is back!

Mommy's Heart Breaker

While we are getting way too old to wear cute little Valentine's shirts, this little Heart Breaker is more than willing to get all dressed up for the big day!

Sprecher Brewery Tour

Our friends the Lards came up today and after a little lunch at the house we decided to head to Sprechers and take a brewery tour. The tour itself couldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes, but afterwards we got to enjoy all sorts of crazy flavors of soda. The grape was the only one I liked as I am not a fan of soda. Although "spicy", it was sweet enough for me to be able to drink a little bit.

3rd Grade Stars

Tonight we entertained our families by performing in our third grade music concert. There was a little dancing, a little instrument playing, and a whole lot of singing. We put on quite a show and lots of parents commented on my drum playing and Lily's mad dancing abilities!

The Big 4-0

Today we celebrate Daddy as he turns the big 4-0! He won't be home until this evening, but we don't technically need him here in body to party! While waiting for his arrival, we stayed busy with my basketball game taking up a good chunk of time. My teacher even showed up for the game to cheer me and one of my classmates on. Even though we lost, I still have plenty of reasons to be happy, with one of them being the yummy French Silk Pie we have waiting at home for Dad...now he just needs to get here!!!

Tales of a Third Grader

Throughout the year my teacher, Ms. Degen, shares photos of our crazy classroom with my parents. The photos document many different things such as field trips, Drumming Up Character, classroom dress up days, and the day we had job interviews. Although Lily is not in my class, if you look closely, you will see Lily on the floor banging away in one of the drumming photos. I'll continue to add to this post as more and more photos are shared since this is my life as a third grader.

Love Notes

I left a little note for Maxwell today while I was at school to just remind him how much I love him!

Maxwell - Five Months

Where or where did the last five months go?!?! Maxwell is growing up so fast and changing almost daily. This month he has taken a huge interest in his body, constantly playing with his feet and sticking his little itty bitty tongue out at us. He has enjoyed trying all sorts of new food this past month including apples, peaches, pears, bananas, butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, avocado, and carrots. He is definitely packing on the pounds, and we can't wait to get an official weight at his six month checkup. He continues to be the happiest baby on earth and still only gets upset when hungry or overtired. He loves playing games like Peek-a-Boo and loves it even more when you give him zerberts on his belly or feet. He still loves listening to music, and especially loves it when you sing to him. He also loves watching basketball on TV! He is a MAJOR drooler, and chews on his hands until they are raw. He is a good sleeper, although he still doesn't follow a strict schedule as life happens way too much in our house. He usually takes it all in stride with a smile on his face, and he is a fairly willing participant in all of our shenanigans!

Mother-Son Cub Scout Camp Out

Tonight was the annual Mother-Son Cub Scout camp out. This year's camp out contained a lot of the same activities from last year (skits, camp fires, sledding), but the Moms really stepped up their game this year adding a minute-to-win-it competition as well as slime and armpit fudge. I discovered a hidden talent winning not only the group minute-to-win-it challenges, but I also was crowned grand minute-to-win-it champion of the whole camp! People were amazed by my speed, especially while stacking cups. It was a fun night for all of the first through fifth graders, and I can't wait for next year's camp to see what the Moms have in store for us!
