Barthel Fruit Farm

We spent part of our morning at Barthel Fruit Farm picking two of our favorites...strawberries and sugar snap peas.  We were busy picking the entire time, but managed to sneak in a few bites, and I wish all of you could taste just how good it all was!  Another good thing is that the farm is practically in our backyard so we'll surely go back for apples, plums, pears, and pumpkins!  We love enjoying all that Wisconsin has to offer here in our world!

A Day of Surprises

Today was an action packed day filled with lots of surprises.  We started out our day with a birthday party at JK Lee Tae Kwon Do for a friend of ours.  Our skills were so good by the end of the party that we all got to break a board.  We weren't quite sure that we'd be able to do it, but the proof is in the boards which are no longer in one piece.  Sometimes we even surprise ourselves!  After the party we were off to the Downer Classic where we enjoyed watching the crazy fast cyclists.  We also managed to enjoy a few of the food vendors, eating some spectacular corn on the cob and some even more spectacular gelato ice cream pops.  Our friend, Jack, joined us as well with his family.  The more the merrier is our motto so you know we had fun...so much so that the end result was two passed out rats, who couldn't even stay awake long enough to eat dinner.  Now that's tired, because we (I should say I) don't pass up the opportunity to eat very often here in our world!

Our Super Hero Power

We often like to believe we have super hero powers...running as fast as Dash in the Incredibles, moving large objects like the Hulk, and flying faster than a speeding bullet like Superman.  Recently, our dream came true as we discovered that we can cling to surfaces like Spiderman.  Mom captured us today in all of our glory demonstrating this extraordinary skill.  Now we're wondering what surface we can cling to next here in our world!

FREEZING

We have been counting down the days for it to be 1. sunny and 2. hot.  We don't seem to get that combination a lot here this summer, but today it finally occurred.  As soon as Mom got home from work I rushed to put on my swimsuit.  Ryan wasn't such an easy sell, but as soon as he saw me having fun he headed upstairs to change into his swim trunks as well.  We will be the first to admit that the water was cold  FREEZING!!!  We didn't care though because we were outside...in the sun...playing in water!  What else does a 5 year old need?!?!

Mission Accomplished

We escaped to Illinois for the day to go swimming at Titi Molly, Uncle Craig, and Marc's house.  We were joined by our cousins Ava, Logan, and Carter as well which made it even that much better!  We swam for 5 hours straight taking brief breaks to go potty and shove our face with food.  The only thing that eventually got us out of the pool was lightning which luckily stayed away until late in the day.  Lily worked all afternoon on perfecting her cannonball, and I just enjoyed floating wherever the wind decided to take me.  We were exhausted by the time we loaded up to make the drive home which usually means mission accomplished here in our world!

Ready Position

Ready position is the position we assume every time someone comes up to bat.  I've got this skill down!

Father's Day

Summer finally decided to make an appearance here in our world (although I think it is scheduled to disappear again by Tuesday), and it couldn't have picked a better day to show up.  In celebration of all things Dad, he got to pick the day's activities, and the beach was at the top of that list.  No complaints on our end, as we rushed to get our swimsuits on as fast as humanly possible.  On our way to the beach, Mom found Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve while searching on her phone, and we aren't one to say no say an adventure so off we went into the unknown.  We have to admit it was quite a hike to the beach, but once we arrived at the beach we had a blast.  You'd think we would have discovered this hidden gem sooner being that it is only 15 minutes from our house, but better now then never here in our world!

Father/Son BBQ

Tonight, it was my turn to have some fun with Daddy on the roof of the Milwaukee Athletic Club.  I've been looking forward to the Father/Son BBQ for some time now, and not only was I able to enjoy it with my Dad, but my little buddy, Zach, was there as well.  A few people from the Milwaukee Wave Soccer team made an appearance too handing out mini soccer balls.  These balls kept us busy all night, as we played soccer on the roof.  My night was almost ruined though when my ball sailed over the edge and landed on the streets below, but Dad saved the day by finding me another ball.  It was a great night for the boys here in our world!

Mequon Nature Preserve

It was a beautiful day out today, and after Mom got home from work we needed something to do so we packed up our stuff and headed out to the Mequon Nature Preserve.  We've driven by the place a million times, and have always wanted to visit.  Well today, we finally got the chance to along with our friends Jack, Peter, and Nora.  We hiked through the woods and then climbed all the way to the top of the oberservation tower.  We could see so far from up there!  We weaved through the trails like expert hikers discovering birds, butterflies, and ducks.  We were tired by the end with all of the running and climbing we did, but Mom said we may have to head back soon so we can go on a scavenger hunt.  It is always an adventure here in our world!

Lions, and Tigers, and Peacocks!

Dad and I had tiger class today at the zoo, where we learned all sorts of cool stuff about them and a few other felines.  We made some projects, and I was able to tell Mom all about tigers when we got home.  I'll share with you a key point just in case you ever run into a tiger...if there tail is up they are friendly, if it is straight out they are excited, and if it is down stay far, far away.  This little tigers tail was definitely down by the time class was done since my tummy was rumbling and all I could think about was food.

While I was busy exploring the jungle, Lily and Mom were busy exploring the rest of the zoo.  Lily made Mom stop for a few photo ops so she could share her morning with you as well.  They saw almost every animal today including the red panda, octopus, and snow leopard which rarely make appearances.  She even stopped by the butterfly garden where she fit right in wearing her butterfly hoodie and headband.  Lily also almost got pooped on by a duck, but that's what she gets for trying to get a little too close.  She did manage to get up close and personal with a peacock though without sustaining any injuries...impressive!
