Lily is "So Big"

Daddy had to go to the ASU football game tonight so Ryan, mommy, and I spent the evening reading books and playing with all of our fun toys. I found it necessary to keep telling mommy how big I was...and by keep telling her, I mean about 50 times. This "So Big" game is so much fun, but sometimes I go too fast and put my arms up before mommy says the words. Oh well, I don't care! How big are you...SO BIG!!!

10 Months Old

Yet another month is in the books. We are officially 10 months old. We have to admit, this month was pretty uneventful compared to last month, but we still did some cool stuff. Of course we spent the day doing what we do best - shopping! As you saw from our last doctor's appointment (refer to August 15th post) we are growing quite nicely. I am now wearing 12 month and some 18 month clothes. Lily is still chugging along in her 9 month clothes, but is wearing her 12 month clothes as well. This past month we were able to dive head first into solids...literally. We tried cheerios, ravioli, macaroni and cheese, prunes, cantaloupe, graham crackers, pancakes, cookies, mashed potatoes, avocado, and yogurt to name a few. We are getting really good at self-feeding ourselves which mom and dad appreciate. I think Wrigley appreciates it too! This month I started pushing up to a sit and pulling myself up. We also got a walker and I figured out how to walk forward in one day. It took Lily 3 weeks, but she is getting the hang of it now. We are also practicing our walking skills along the furniture. Good thing our couch is squishy. Lily is a master crawler now as well. She crawls on all fours, unlike me who still prefers the army crawl. Lily and I started playing the game "so big". It is crazy that raising your arms up above your head brings out such a big smile on everyone's face. We did both come down with colds this month, but overall we have no complaints. Here we come month eleven!

Self-Feeding

We have been getting better at self-feeding ourselves, but we wanted to share with you the results when we get the chance to do so. As you can see Lily is a little bit messier than I am. Mommy once told her avocado is good for your hair and skin and I guess she took it literally.

Since we love to make such a mess this is usually the consequence, but we have to admit that we don't mind it too much (shh, don't tell mom).

Once we are all clean we are ready to roll again. Too bad we aren't always allowed to self-feed ourselves because the whole process is so much fun!

Birthday Hats

Mom and dad took us shopping today and we had to try on all of these ridiculous hats. I secretly think Lily liked the "Birthday Diva" one since she wouldn't take it off and she was posing while wearing it. Can you believe only two more months until our birthday?!?

Camp Tontozona

We got away from the heat today and headed up to Camp Tontozona just outside of Payson, Arizona. The Arizona State University football team was playing their last scrimmage ever there so we thought we'd enjoy it with the 3000 other people who made the two hour drive north. Aunt Melinda, baby girl Kyger (she's in Aunt Melinda's belly), and Wrigley joined us as well so we had a packed car. It was a fun filled day and we got our picture taken with Rudy Carpenter, the ASU quarterback. How cool is that!?!

9 Month Check-Up

Today we had our nine month check-up, and we have to tell you, it was great because we didn't get any shots! We are officially 9 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days old so we are running a little behind, but we just couldn't crawl fast enough. Anyway, we decided today, after our official weigh-in, that we fit our nicknames, Rhino and Pie. Lily came in at 19 pounds 14 ounces (62%), 27.5 inches long (39%), and with a head circumference of 17.7 inches (74%). I came in at a whopping 23 pounds 2 ounces (81%), 29 inches long (67%), and with a head circumference of 18.6 inches (91%). Dr. Mike thinks we may have been triplets at one time, but that I accidentally ate one of us while we were in mommy's belly. He is too funny! Everything else checked out good. Mom and dad need to keep stretching my neck since my torticollis isn't completely resolved. Dr. Mike said hopefully by 18 months it will be gone so we'll just keep an eye on it. Otherwise we received a clean bill of health, and were ordered to stay out of the office until we turn one. That sounds easy enough. We were also given the go ahead to start eating pretty much everything as long as we don't choke. Duh! We took advantage of the opportunity and tried some yogurt and cantaloupe. Yummy! All I have left to say is that our world is looking pretty good!

Baby Proofing 101

Ever since we arrived home from vacation, mommy and daddy have been baby proofing the house. They put these plastic things over all of the outlets (which were my favorite thing to try and play with by the way), moved the wine rack out of the kitchen (which was my second favorite thing to play with), lowered our crib mattresses, and gated off the front room. We still try to get into the front room, but often find ourselves just sitting there staring through the gate wondering what could be. They also bought an area rug for the family room and got rid of the gigantic wood coffee table. What's up with that? We did get a small storage ottoman to replace it which is actually fun to chew on and put our toys in, but we'll never admit it. This only covers a few of the crazy things they've done, and who knows what's next. Hopefully it doesn't involve locking any cupboard doors!

Pulling Up

Lily has been pulling up on things since July 27, but I finally decided to give it a go today. It is pretty easy now that I've figured it out, and I must say I love helping mom load the dishwasher.

I also thought I'd post a few cute pictures of us from this past weekend having fun on the couch. We love to get squished between the cushions!

One Year Later

Mommy sat us down tonight and told us that one year ago today was when she was admitted to the hospital and put onto bed rest for the next 3 months. She said that at the time it was hard to imagine laying in a bed for so long, and she wasn't sure if she could do it, but she knew she had to do it for us even though she had never even met us. She said that the doctors told her and daddy scary stories about what we may be like if we were born at 24 weeks, and then 26 weeks, and so on. Well, it looks like her hard work paid off, and we don't have to worry about what could have been because look at us now!

Ryan's First Tooth

Although I got my first tooth on July 22, mom and dad finally got around to putting this video on the computer so I could share it with all of you.

Our New Walker

We made our monthly (or is it weekly) stop at Babies R Us today and look what we came home with...a walker. We love it! We have already figured out how to go backwards and spin it around. The forward thing isn't happening yet, but we don't care.
