Save The Best For Last

We've been trying to plan a swim date with Katelyn all summer at the North Shore Country Club.  You would think with nearly three months off this would have been an easy task, but it proved to be quite challenging.  With one day left, and nothing but rain in the forecast, we assumed we had failed.  Little did we know that the weatherman would be completely wrong, and it turned out to be 82 degrees and sunny all afternoon!  Thanks to some quick thinking by Mrs. Jost we were on our way to a fun filled afternoon of diving boards, slides, and diving for torpedoes!

When Grandma Comes to Town...

We get to do all sorts of things we don't normally do when Grandma comes to town (with Mom's approval of course)!  We get to have treats, play on the iPad, go out to dinner, and buy enormous "Pudgy Puppies".  Luckily Grandma only splurged on one puppy though because we're not sure if our house is big enough to hold another one.

2-3

It is now 2-3 as I lost my second tooth tonight.  You can't even really tell that I lost one being that it hung on for so long that the grown up tooth grew in behind it.  I'm excited though because this means the tooth fairy will be visiting tonight!!!

Ice Cream Truck!!!!

For the first summer ever the ice cream truck stopped at our house!  We've heard that magical music a few times in years past, but it never seemed to be able to get close enough to our house.  This summer they must have found their way because the truck has gone by a few times now.  The first few times we missed it, but this time we heard it from a mile away, and we waited in the driveway ready to strike.  The minute Daddy spotted it he waved the man down and just like in our dreams he pulled right up to the end of the driveway where we just stared in awe at all of the stickers on the side of the truck.  When it came time to choose I went with the Cotton Candy Twist and Lily chose the Bubble Gum Bar.  The experience alone made the ice cream taste that much better!!!

Watermelons

Mom was thinking of quitting her day job to just do manicures now that we've discovered how to do watermelon nails!  Had you going there for a minute, but I sure wish it was true!

Hanging with AJ

Even though it was a thousand degrees out today, we decided to go hang out at Grandpa Wayne's park for a bit with AJ.  We tried the playground, but it was too hot, so we headed off down the trail along the river to see what we could find.  I was overjoyed when I discovered a lone turkey feather.  You may remember, I was quite excited to find two turkey feathers when we were up at the cottage over the 4th of July.  After leaving one at Grandpa Wayne's grave, I was disappointed to lose my last one as it flew out the car window while driving one day.  Mom had said that I would find another one some day, and I guess today was that day, and one of the best things about it was that I found it at Grandpa's park!

Cousins

Daddy was out of town this weekend, and Mommy had something for work in Appleton so we headed up to Green Bay to hang out with our cousins.  We had a BBQ at Uncle Steve's and Aunt Claire's, and for once in my life playing trumped eating!  Bubba, AJ, Elizabeth, John, and James were all able to be there, and we played Ghosts in the Graveyard, Kick the Can, Hot Potato, Hide and Seek...you name it we probably played it!

Too Cool

I was too cool for the kiddie carts when I was 3, 4, and even 5 years old.  Now that I am 6 (almost 7) though, it is an entirely different story!

Virmond Park

The countdown has begun with Daddy leaving in only three short days so we are trying to make the most of our time with him before he jets off to Atlanta.  With summer finally making an appearance here in Wisconsin we took full advantage of it and hiked our way down the bluff to the beach at Virmond Park right by our house.  We love the beach here because so few people make the trek so we usually have almost the entire beach to ourselves.  Today we were joined by one other group of people who left shortly after we arrived which was great because they also left behind a little hut that they had built.  We played with it forever letting our imaginations run wild!

Waterford Hot Air Balloon Festival

Mom stumbled across this festival early this morning by chance, and we all thought it sounded pretty fun so we headed to Waterford for another adventure.  No one knew where Waterford even was, but thanks to Google Maps we arrived safe and sound just in time for the first hot air balloon to launch.  After watching a handful of balloons take flight, the decision was made to allow us to stay up late so we could see the "evening glow".  This was exactly what the name suggests...a dozen or so hot air balloons tethered to the ground all lighting up the evening sky.  It was amazing, and well worth the drive!

Cubs Fans Here

Today we experienced yet another first, as we ventured to Chicago to take in a Cubs game at Wrigley Field.  We actually went to the game compliments of the Atlanta Braves (the opponents) and Daddy's new job, we just left out the simple fact when asking for the tickets that we'd be using them to cheer on the Cubs....Oops!  We also cheered on the ice cream and peanuts that we thoroughly enjoyed during the game, and the fact that it was Etch-a-Sketch day for all of the kids.  Daddy was proud of me after my first trip to the infamous bathroom too.  Apparently using the trough is a right of passage for all boys who pass through Wrigley Field, and I succeeded not once, but twice!  We spent a good amount of time before the game as well trying to find Lily the perfect hat. She had a very particular one in mind, and luckily we found it!  She tried to bring the Cubs some luck by using her hat as a magic rally hat, but it wasn't enough.  We were amazed none the less by the scoreboard and loved watching the people change it by hand as the game went on, and with a total of 17 runs being scored there was a lot of action.  It was such a different experience from any park we've been to before that we couldn't help but enjoy ourselves even though only 7 of those runs belonged to the Cubs.

Golf and Cookies

I started golf last week, and had my second lesson today.  I am enjoying perfecting my swing and eating the chocolate chip cookie that come after every lesson.  Lily even got to join in on the cookie fun  this week just for being a good spectator.  I'm thinking that if I ever get to be as good as Bubba Watson or Tiger Woods I could request that they pay me in cookies.  That would make me one happy little man here in our world!

Grandpa's Pinwheel

With our curiosity growing, Mom decided that this summer she would take us to visit the cemetery where Grandpa Wayne is buried.  Lily went about a month ago, and while there, decided that Grandpa needed a pinwheel.  Over the last month we have been searching for one that would withstand our crazy Wisconsin weather, and a few short days ago we found one that we hope fits the bill.  Today, I joined Lily at Grandpa's grave, and we placed the pinwheel next to his headstone.  We wanted Grandpa to have just a little piece of us next to him, and something bright and fun seemed like the perfect fit!

4th of July 2014

We spent the long weekend up at the cottage and enjoyed every minute of it.  Our new adventure this time around...tubing.  We gave it a try last summer, only to fail miserably due to a boat malfunction, but this summer was another story.  I was a bit hesitant at first, but once I saw Lily give it a go, I was sold.  We can't even put into words how much fun we had flying, bouncing, and screaming our way around the lake!  We even got Dad on the tube with Elizabeth which was so much fun to watch!  We of course had fireworks (or giant TNTs as I like to call them) thanks to Grandma, and finished ours in time to head down to the end of the dock to take in the lake display which was quite impressive.  Elizabeth joined us for some time on the paddle boards and slack line, where we taught her a few of our tricks.  On our last night, Lily managed to pull away from me in our tooth race losing one of her top front teeth.  Can you believe that the Tooth Fairy managed to find her all the way up in the North Woods??? That makes it 3-1, but I'm not giving up just yet.  With all of the excitement we somehow managed to find time to squeeze in a quick trip to the candy store on our way out of town, which made for a perfect end to a perfect weekend!
