Captiva Island - Day 5

Today marks the end of our amazing vacation to Captiva Island. After spending a bit more time at the beach this morning we spent the afternoon roaming around town. While on the hunt to find a place to eat lunch we stumbled across The Bubble Room. Although we didn't ultimately choose to eat here, we felt it necessary to take a picture in one of the many odd things they had outside. I think this sums up how much fun Captiva is as you never know what is around the corner, and there is definitely a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy! We will definitely be back!!!

Captiva Island - Day 4

This morning we headed to the marina side of the resort to try out a different pool. This one was fun because it had water slides and Maxwell was able to sit up on one end. There were so many people though that we decided to head back to our more secluded beach in the afternoon. While Max enjoyed the shade, Lily and I built sand castles and tried to outsmart the waves. We decided to venture out in the evening for dinner to celebrate our last night on the island. We ate at Key Lime Bistro because we were told by Mr. Dav and Ms. Jude that the key lime pie was the best ever made. They do not lie, and Maxwell would agree, as after every bite he would just open his mouth and wait for someone...anyone...to give him another bite.

Captiva Island - Day 3

This morning we woke up early for low tide and left our shoes behind so we could do some shelling along the beach.  We're definitely not afraid to "dive in" to find the perfect shell and we can't wait to share our collection with everyone once we're done. After breakfast Mom and Lily took a walk and then it was down to the beach. Max got to hang out in his tent while Lily and I chased schools of fish and walked along the beach. The afternoon was spent relaxing a bit and we of course made a quick stop at the pool while Dad grilled out. Then the big finale, an after bedtime Daddy/Big Rat date night for a Seaside Cinema and S'mores!

Captiva Island - Day 2

Today (after the beach and pool of course) we ventured outside our little compound and caught the trolley which takes you all around the resort. We stopped at Scoops for a quick dinner, and then we did a little shopping. Lily loved the trolley for some reason and was even more excited when she found out that we can ride it again tomorrow. Sometimes it's the little things I guess!

Captiva Island - Day 1

From nearly sun up to sun down we could be found at either the beach or the pool during our first full day in Florida! We took a few breaks for food, and Maxwell joined us in between naps. The Gulf of Mexico wasn't really his cup of tea as I'm sure the little waves looked ginormous to him, but the pool was right up his alley and he floated forever without a care in the world! For dinner we enjoyed a slice of  Mermaid Cake, which is supposedly famous down here. Maxwell even tried to eat Lily's piece, but we were able to pry him away. Overall the day was perfect, and tomorrow should be filled with much of the same...beach, pool, and sun!

And We're Off...

Maxwell took his first plane ride today as we headed out of town for Spring Break. He managed to catch some zzz's for the first half of the trip thanks to Dad's headphones which drowned out the screaming little girl sitting across from us. We made it to sunny Captiva Island, Florida all in one piece and the first thing we did once arriving at the resort was head to the beach to catch an amazing sunset! We're looking forward to six fun filled days in the warm Florida sun!!!

Cake Decorating 101

Lily and her Bestie took a cake decorating class today at The Secret Oven, and I, being the nice brother that I am, will be the first to admit that her cake was one of the best cakes I've ever eaten! A job well done!!!
