Halloween

With 70 degree temperatures on Monday we were ready for our first "warm" Wisconsin Halloween since moving here.  I guess will have to wait until next year, as Mother Nature decided to not play so nice, and we hit a high of 30 something today with wind chills in the 20's.  Luckily we were prepared with flannel lined jeans and winter coats all stuffed under our costumes.  I was rather poofy, and Lily couldn't move her arms very high due to all of the layers, but it is a small sacrifice to make when candy is on the line and the weather just won't cooperate.  This year we couldn't wait to don our costumes, me as Bumblebee from Transformers, and Lily as a witch.  We hit up a new neighborhood this year, and it worked out perfect!  We ran into so many people we knew from school, and got to hang our with our friend, Elise.  We ran from house to house scoring huge candy bars and gummy eye balls.  We even visited the neighborhood haunted house where Lily transformed into a rather wicked witch.  We ended our night at a friend's house where we celebrated her birthday and indulged in pizza and chocolate cake.  It was a great way to end a spooktacular Halloween!

Seven!!!

Today we turned seven!!!  We woke up ready to party and quickly exchanged gifts with each other.  We both spent a lot of time with Mom last weekend picking out the perfect gifts for each other, and I think we both succeeded.  We then celebrated with friends all day at school, and this was just the beginning as we have an entire weekend of fun planned!  Mom and Dad joined us at the end of the day and brought in ice cream cups for us to share with our friends.  Lily's class sang Happy Birthday to her and everyone in her class made her cards.  Her teacher, Ms. Bongard, sent home a birthday bag too with a cool straw and some fun books for Lily to read.  My class had a dance party in honor of me, and I was able to share my birthday poster that I've been working on all month.  The class also got to ask a few questions about twins since apparently Lily and I are quite an anomoly.  The questions ranged from "Do twins have to be born on the same day?" to "What do twins eat?"  After a crash course in twins, we got to leave school about 5 minutes early which was fun in and of itself.  We then headed to gymnastics to work off some of our excitement, and then it was off to our first ever piano recital.  Here Lily performed Do You Like to Ride a Horse? and Pumpkin Eater.  I performed Zoom, Zoom Witches Broom and Halloween.  We made it through our performances with ease and after a few snacks we headed home for a late dinner and Mom and Dad surprised us with some gifts.  It was a busy day, but we enjoyed every minute, and can't wait to see what the next few days have in store for us since this birthday calls for four days of celebration!

Carving Pumpkins

Due to the fact that Dad, and Dad alone, is in charge of carving pumpkins we got to do it today since he will not be here next weekend.  We saw no problem with this, except for the fact that it didn't get out of the forties today so it was rather chilly while carving, and we couldn't feel our hands after scooping out all of the ooey-gooey pumpkin guts.  Nothing could have stopped us though since carving pumpkins is one of the many highlights of October that we couldn't live without.  This year we strayed from traditional faces, and went with a bat and a witch.  We love how they turned out, and have them displayed proudly on the porch for all to see.  We added to the excitement this year as well, with Mom baking some of the pumpkin seeds which Lily just can't get enough of.  It is definitely shaping up to be a "spook"tacular Halloween!

Delzer's Pumpkin Farm

We headed up for one night to Green Bay to help out Grandma Jackie, and were surprised today by Uncle Steve and Aunt Claire who invited us to Delzer's Pumpkin Farm with Elizabeth and her friend, Anna.  We didn't really need any pumpkins, but couldn't resist a fun afternoon of haunted hay rides and bouncing ponies.  Lily was even brave enough to go through the Haunted Granary with Uncle Steve leading the way.  She was a bit disturbed upon leaving the Granary, but now can't stop talking about all of the creepy stuff she saw.  It was a quick trip, with a few spooky surprises, but we had a great time!

Someday I May Be President

Today, I was selected by my class, along with another student, to represent them on student council.  I was nominated by a classmate because she thought I'd be a good leader, and because she likes to sit by me at lunch.  Lots of other people must have agreed with her though, and as a result, I now have to attend a weekly meeting and report back to my class on all of the important things going on at school.  It should be fun and quite interesting as I begin my term as an elected leader.  Who knows, if I keep this up, maybe someday I might just be President!

The Ninja and The Witch

After school today we snuck into a little road side farm stand to pick up some small pumpkins.  We already have our Mommy and Daddy pumpkins at home, but felt we needed some little ones to complete the family.  I, being the master of good deals, scored a two for deal on the worlds smallest pumpkins.  Lily, on the other hand, went for the pie pumpkin, and somehow managed to pay less than I did even though her pumpkin was twice the size of the two of mine combined.  Go figure!  We both got what we wanted in the end though, and had fun spending part of the evening decorating them.  In case you need some help in determining what they are let me just fill you in...mine is a ninja, and Lily's is a witch.  This is just one more reason why we love October here in our world!

Pigs and Marshmallows

Pigs and marshmallows may seem like an odd combination, but when you have two parties to go to in one night this is what happens.  We started our evening at Mr. Dav's and Ms. Jude's for a pig roast, and ended at the Lundstrom's for pizza night and s'mores.  Delicious!!!
