Strawberries and Sugar Snap Peas Oh My!

It's that time of year again...strawberry and pea picking time at Barthel Fruit Farm in Mequon.  It is one of the many things we enjoyed last summer, and this year was no exception.  The strawberries and peas were exceptional, so much so, that we had a hard time stopping our little fingers from picking.  We had so many peas by the time we finished that we could feed a whole army of six year olds.  We of course indulged in a few strawberries and peas while in the field as well, and we tried (key word being tried) to hide the evidence as best we could!

Chinooks Game

Tonight was TMYBA night at the Lakeshore Chinooks game so I got decked out in my jersey and hat and headed a mile up the road to Concordia University, where the Chinooks play, to take in a little baseball.  All of the TMYBA players were able to stand on the field for the National Anthem, and after the game we were able to run the bases!  We ran into Gill the Chinook after the game, and willingly posed for a picture too!  We also ran into our neighbors, the Johnsons, at the game where Lily and CJ found time for a selfie.  The Chinooks won the game, which was a perfect end to a perfect evening here in our world!

Two Wet Rats

Tuesdays during the summer are typically slow in our world, but due to the excessive amount of rain we've had in the last few weeks I had to squeeze in a tennis lesson.  It started raining cats and dogs 45 minutes into that lesson as well and I ended up drenched.  Since I was already wet once we got home, I figured there was no harm in jumping in a few puddles.  Ryan apparently agreed with me, and an hour later we were two wet rats from head to toe!

Mom's New Ride

It is the first day of summer, and the not so nice weather meant no Air & Water show today so we needed to find something else exciting to do.  This resulted in a trip to the Acura dealer to find Mom a new car.  Not really our idea of exciting, but we did fine, and were complimented mulitple times on our behavior so it wasn't so bad.  After a long day we drove home happy (except for Lily, who cried because she wanted Mom to keep her old car) in Mom's new "wine juice" colored 2014 MDX.

Zoo Class

Summer means zoo classes start up again for us, and this year, since we are so old, we get to go by ourselves, and stay all day!  We are a little sad about this because zoo class always meant quality Dad time, but we had fun despite missing Dad.  My class, Zoo's Clues, allowed us to become zoo detectives.  Lily's class, Oodles of Art, allowed her to discover the sculptues, stained glass, and artwork scattered throughout the zoo.  She made plenty of her own  artwork as well, but because there were three Lily's in her class she only managed to come home with two pieces that actually belonged to her.

Jam Packed Summer

Summer means we get to fill our days with lots of new activities.  This year we are being quite adventurous with us trying out a few new sports, along with some of our favorites.  My summer will be filled with basketball, baseball, swimming, golf, and gymnastics.  Lily's summer entails tennis, swimming, piano, and gymnastics.  Of course it isn't all at the same time, but we had all of it this week at some point so we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off.  We made it to every lesson though and had fun doing it so it should be a great summer here in our world!!!

Dad's Day

Today we celebrated Dad!  We found time in our busy Kindergarten schedules to make some cool key chains and bookmarks before ending our year, and we surprised him with the gift of experience too, a trip to Body Worlds at the Milwaukee Public Museum. We also managed to squeeze in a few more exhibits after Body Worlds which included the mummies, dinosaur bones, and the butterfly wing.  Lily loved having the butterflies crawl all over her, while I on the other hand couldn't get out of there fast enough.  I was happy checking them out from afar, but the idea of them landing on me just didn't float my boat.  Overall the museum was great though, and we enjoyed our day with Dad!!!

Goodbye to Kindergarten

We did it!  We survived Kindergarten and now it is official, we are First Graders!  We had a little picnic at school today to celebrate the occasion.  Mrs. Differt surprised us each with photo albums which captured our entire Kindergarten year.  We also received our reports cards and again received perfect marks.  Our favorite thing about Kindergarten this year was free choice, and we're both a bit devastated that we won't get this in First Grade.  We loved all of the amazing things we learned, which includes reading.  You will catch us with books just about everywhere, and chapter books (aka The Magic Tree House Series) are my new favorite thing!  After learning so many new things this year, we can't imagine what else is left, but according to Mom we have at least twelve more years of this so I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.  Now onto First Grade, after summer vacation of course!!!

Ryan's Second Semester Kindergarten School Art

Snowmen, George Washington, Sunny the Dog, Spring, and pottery were a few of the projects we took in during our second half of Kindergarten.  Topics centered around weaving, watercolors, chalk, dot art, stamping, and clay just to name a few.  The semester was topped off by a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum where we were able to see the real Sunny #4 painting.

Dance Recital 2014

I LOVE dance recital days because not only do I get to get all dressed up in shiny sparkly things, but I also get to wear make-up, and lots of it!!!  The only bad thing about it is that it only occurs once a year.  I had both of my grandmas and Pop Pops come in for my big day too, which made it that much better!  This year, my tap dance was to the song Cruella De Vil.  We got to be dalmation puppies, and who doesn't love a puppy?!?  After the show there were lots of pictures (including one with my dance buddy, Daniella), and then it was off to lunch, which made for a great end to my exciting day!
