2-0...Game On!

Look closely, one of these things is not like the rest...I officially lost my second tooth today.  It had been hanging on for dear life by a thread for a few days now.  Mom had warned me that I may lose it at school, and sure enough, while walking in from recess out it popped.  My new tooth is already making an appearance, and I have another loose tooth on the top this time.  Ryan better hurry up and start losing some teeth or this will be the easiest race I've ever won!

Easter

Easter this year included some of the same traditions, as well as a few new ones to change things up a bit. You know us...wild and wacky!  The first big change is that we headed up to Grandma's house late Saturday night instead of on Sunday so that we didn't have to drive both ways in one day.  This was the first time ever that we woke up NOT IN OUR HOUSE on a holiday.  We planned things out though leaving the Easter Bunny a note letting him know where we would be.  Our plan worked too because he found us!!!  Another addition to Easter this year was hot cross buns for breakfast.  I've been learning this song in piano, and Grandma found some real ones for me so that now I know what I'm talking about.  After breakfast Grandma asked for our help in hiding the eggs for the much anticipated annual egg hunt.  Now that we are old and more responsible she figured we were up to the task.  Due to rain, we had to have the hunt indoors this year again, but we made the best of it.  Thanks to our excellent hiding skills, the hunt was pretty intense and took a bit longer this year, but every egg was found eventually!  The rain did let up just long enough for us to tromp outside for a silly string fight, and burn off some of our energy.  It was a wonderful Easter, and now we need to shift our focus to Halloween!

Eggs!

Today was nothing fancy, but we got the job done and dyed our Easter eggs.  We used a crayon to write names and draw polka dots and stars.  The hard part was letting the eggs sit so that they could soak up all the pretty colors.  We succeeded though, and now we have a dozen or so eggs to admire and then eat!

Mequon Nature Preserve

With today being the only somewhat nice day of Spring Break our only request was to do something outside.  We needed to release some energy, Wrigley needed a walk, and Mom needed a break so we headed to one of our favorite places in Mequon...the Mequon Nature Preserve. Here, we can walk until our legs can't walk anymore, and that is exactly what we did for over an hour.  My battery life reached zero about 2/3 of the way through according to me, but I recharged just enough to make it back to the car.  We traversed through corn fields and forests, and over water discovering all sorts of birds and trees.  We of course made time to climb the observation tower as well - bet you can't find Lily in the picture!  We were exhausted and hungry by the time we were done, and grateful that Spring is working so hard to show up every now and then.

Little Pianist

I have officially started taking formal piano lessons as of today.  I took a sample lessons two weeks ago, and was sold when I hit the first key.  I have been wanting to play an instrument for some time now, and was trying to decide between violin and piano.  When Mom stumbled across a wonderful teacher, who also happens to live nearby, the decision to start with piano was a simple one.  Today we tackled Hot Cross Buns, maybe tomorrow Pachelbel's Canon in D...move over Liberace, Beethoven, and Mozart!

Surprise!

The most exciting surprise arrived in the mail today and it was addressed to me!  Inside was a letter explaining that I had won third place in the Be Kind To Animals Week art contest.  We had drawn pictures in school a few weeks ago showing us being kind to animals.  Mine was of Wrigley and I playing fetch.  Apparently, all of those art lessons paid off, and now I get to go to the Humane Society for an award ceremony, and my picture will be hung up for all to see!

Monkeys in the Jungle

Tonight was our night to shine as we sang at the annual Kindergarten/First Grade Musical.  We rocked on the drums and made pretty cute elephants as we explained to everyone how ridiculous it would be if elephants had wrinkles on their teeth.  Lily loved everything about the night, including the fact that she got to dress up.  I looked rather dapper myself in my tie and loafers, and felt like quite a gentleman.  These two little monkeys made Mom and Dad proud!!!

Bear Down

My room is complete now that Brain Urlacher's jersey has been hung up.  Dad had him sign the jersey for me six years ago when I was still in Mommy's tummy, and Sunday, against Mom's better judgement, Dad hung it up in my room.  I didn't think I could LOVE the Bears more than I already do, but I do!!!  BEAR DOWN!!!
