Best Friends

Best friends are the people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little brighter, and live a little better (especially when trying to find your way through a corn maze at Jim's Pumpkin Farm)!

Growing Up

Today we collectively celebrate another year...another big day...another October 30...another birthday.  While we are excited to turn six and enjoy everything that goes along with having a birthday, we are ready to slow things down a bit because we would prefer to stay young forever.  We've been told that it is exciting to grow up, to learn new things, and to experience all that the world has to offer.  While we find that there is some truth in this, it just seems hard to believe that the next year could be any better then the one that has just passed.  I guess we don't have much choice in this matter though so here we go!!!

Trick-or-Treat

We couldn't have asked for a nicer Wisconsin day for trick-or-treating this year.  It wasn't Arizona warm, but a high temperature in the 50's and clear skies equals good trick-or-treating here in Wisconsin!  I almost managed to ruin my day when I lost my belt buckle to my awesome Power Rangers costume, but once I hit the streets all was forgotten and my mission became to get candy and get it fast.  Our group this year consisted of nine kids, and a few of us, myself included,  literally ran from house to house.  Lily, in her beautiful Belle costume, was more strategic in her plan, zigzagging between houses, and snatching wagon rides from Dad when she got the chance.  Despite our different approaches, we were both dragging towards the end because our bags were getting too heavy to carry.  We did try for a group picture to wrap things up, rather unsuccessfully I might add, but you get the point here in our world!

6th Birthday Party

Another year is almost in the books for us as we will be turning six this week.  We celebrated today with family and friends, inviting everyone to our house for a little Lego/Under the Sea themed birthday bash.  With our help, Mom decked out the dining room with anything and everything Lego and sea related.  We had Lego men and Octopus hanging from the ceiling, and cool cakes made by Mom to go with our theme.  By the time my ice cream cake made it to the table it was more of a melted Lego cake, but we can blame that on our basement freezer which picked the best day ever to stop working.  No one seemed to mind though since it still tasted delicious.  AJ was in on our celebration too, having his own DQ ice cream cake to celebrate his 12th birthday, and when all was said and done all that was left of all three cakes was a small piece of his, and a small piece of Lily's pumpkin and yogurt cake.  We of course had our balloons again courtesy of Grandma Jackie.  Lily lost one immediately, but she didn't seem to mind probably because we had so many other things and people to keep us entertained.  Presents were of course one of our favorite things, and I was so proud of myself for stacking all of my stuff into a pile almost as tall as me.  We received so many cool things and had so many great people to celebrate with that the day couldn't have been much better.  As a matter of fact, it was so much fun that we filled Mom and Dad in on our ideas for next year so mark your calendars!

Carving Pumpkins

Mommy had to work late tonight so the after school duty was left in Dad's hands.  He figured today was as good a day as any to get a little dirty so off we headed to the internet.  That's right, the internet, but that was only to get our creative juices flowing as we prepared to carve our pumpkins for the first time.  Onto the dirty part...but first we have to let you all know that Dad even remembered to have us change into old clothes (which earned him brownie points in Mom's book).  Once outside we learned what carving pumpkins was really all about...we draw the faces (with help from Dad) and then we carve them (with even more help from Dad).  To be honest, the slimy, cold, wet pumpkin guts didn't really suit our fancy, but Dad did a great job cleaning them out and carving them.  We did a great job taking all of the credit and smiling cute for the camera because as we were finishing Mom got home.  In the end we were very happy with the results, and couldn't wait to light the candles.   Why we (Dad) didn't carve pumpkins before we do not know, but we'll be sure to put it on our calendars for next year!

Elegant Farmer

A bushel or a peck was the million dollar question today as we met our friends, the Lard family, at the Elegant Farmer for some apple picking.  It was a picturesque fall day as we enjoyed the tractor ride out to the orchard while snacking on cinnamon doughnuts.  We tried every variety of apple they had to offer (some even twice) climbing each and every tree or ladder we could get our hands on.  After filling our basket we headed out to the corn maze where we ran, ran, and then ran some more finding all of the checkpoints.  By the time we made it back to the barn for lunch we were exhausted, and took full advantage of the ride home to catch a little shut eye.  Now we just need to figure out what to do with all those apples, although we're pretty sure that won't be too hard.

Kalahari

It's October...our most favoritest month of the year for so many reasons!  Reason #1, our annual trip to the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells!  We arrived late Thursday night and returned home this afternoon, but not before squeezing in three trips to the water park and two trips to the arcade.  We did not want to waste one minute, and we succeeded, covering every square inch of the resort with our excited little bodies.  This year we even added miniature golf (where I had a legit hole in one), a ropes course (which Lily loved), and a new water slide (the Zig Zag Zebra) to our repertoire.  Pop Pops and Gigi joined us in the fun again this year as well enjoying it almost as much as us.  Thanks to Pop Pops being a kid at heart we played almost every game at the arcade.  Lily scored the bonus Jellyfish and 350 tickets at her new favorite fishing game, and I scored 150 at another game.  In no time at all we burned through our game card, and then we took twice as long spending all 2000+ tickets on cool prizes.  I scored an awesome miniature dominoes set, and as soon as we arrived back at our room Pop Pops and I were playing a game.  Pop Pops taught me all the tricks, a decision he would later regret since I beat him.  After all of the fun Lily and I were both dreaming of moving to the Wisconsin Dells, but I guess we'll have to put that on our someday maybe list because for now it is back to reality!
