Harvest & Wine Festival

Lily was a bit under the weather this weekend, but not so much so that we couldn't enjoy a beautiful first day of fall.  We headed up to Cedarburg to take in the Wine & Harvest Festival for a bit before heading home for some football.  The streets were filled with food, giant carved pumpkins, and lots of fall decor.  There were so many vendors we were a bit overwhelmed, but we spotted (or maybe smelled) the giant caramel apples and cookies right away.  A cute smile was all it took to convince Mom and Dad that we should have a little treat, and it made the journey all that much better.

5K Pictures

Quick as a bunny, swift as lightning, in the wink of an eye; all describe how fast our school pictures arrived this year.  Now it's time to dole out these cute faces all around town.

Food and Fun

Daddy has been working with the Milwaukee Fire Department for quite some time now, and tonight a bunch of firemen from Engine 9 wanted to say thank you so they invited the whole family for a yummy home cooked meal at the fire station.  A trip to the fire station just wouldn't be complete without a tour of every single truck of course.  Being the only kids around we got to do a bit more than on any of our previous field trips we've taken.  We were able to sit in the drivers seat, and climb into the ambulance and pretend we were saving someone.  There is definitely nothing better than a fun excursion and a full belly here in our world!

Hut, Hut

After just a few practices, we are apparently good enough to play a full fledged game of flag football (or at least that's what they say).  Our coaches are great at setting us up and they have so much enthusiasm that you can't help but have fun!  My buddies from school last year, Jack and Drew, are on my team too so it makes it all that much better.  I was a bit skeptical about all of this football stuff when we started a few weeks ago, but for now I'm willing to trade home runs for touchdowns here in our world!

First Day of Kindergarten

Happy first day of Kindergarten to us!  Having gone to school for two years now we feel like old pros when it comes to this school stuff, but being at a new school this year we both have to admit that we are just a little bit nervous.  Luckily we both got the same teacher this year, and we each have a friend from our old school in our class as well.  Mom got to drive us to school this morning too and stay with us for awhile (a whopping 20 minutes to be exact) which made the transition easier, but it is going to be a loooooooong day now that we stay all day.  We have our nap mats ready to go, but with all of the excitement I'm pretty sure there will be no napping during quiet time.  Good thing we got to take a bus safety ride this morning during school while we were awake and had our listening ears on, because we may save nap time for the bus ride home since we are the last ones dropped off.  Hopefully we make it home in time for dinner!

Labor Day Weekend 2013

Like usual we spent our last weekend of summer relaxing up at the cottage.  We enjoyed everything that the great north woods has to offer.  We spent a day at the beach swimming and I found a new friend, Mr. Frog.  We took the paddle boards out every chance we got, and this time around I even got to cruise around by myself for a bit, although AJ had to come to my rescue and tow me back to the dock every time I went out.  For some reason paddling out was always easier than coming back in, but by the end of the weekend we had our towing system down to a science so there were no worries.  The rhinoceros even headed out for a few rides without complaining which is quite an accomplishment for him.  We of course stopped by the candy store enjoying ice cream and a treat.  My treat was giant gumballs, which resulted in a few days of bubble blowing for me.  I haven't perfected the skill just yet, but trust me I will master it soon!  We enjoyed nightly camp fires which also came with tonka pizzas and "schmores".  Note, that was not a spelling error, I decided schmores sounds so much better than s'mores.  Now that the fun is over it is time to get back into the swing of things...school starts in two short days!!!
