Ryan's November School Art

November at school was all about giving thanks and family.  Our big project was to make a family board with us as the teacher and Mom as the helper.  Mom did a good job letting us pick everything, although she did have to put an end to the pictures because the board wasn't big enough to hold all of the pictures we both wanted.  We also learned Mom's cell phone number and our home phone in case we ever need to call her for anything.  Our journals included a few things we did during the month.  I wrote about our trip to Meadowmere Assisted Living where we played bingo for candy and my favorite food at Thanksgiving dinner...Pumpkin Pie.  We also made some other fun projects like the life cycle of a pumpkin, a lion, and Indian corn.  It was definitely another busy month here in our world!

My November was pretty much the same as Ryan's.  In my journal I shared that my favorite Thanksgiving food was corn and that my family liked to go to the park together.

Going Big

We're moving on up this year and going bigger with a Home Depot thanks to Gigi and Pop Pops.  Last year we took on the gingerbread house, but this year we went for an entire home improvement store.  I wonder what we'll build next year here in our world!?!?

Five Year Check-Up

Mom always tells us that we have to take the bad along with the good, but since so much of our world is good this is hard for us to do. Today, was one of those days that tested this advice, and we didn't fair so well. Today, was the dreaded five year check-up. We knew the minute Mom asked Dad to come along that things weren't going to be good. I asked the nurse as soon as she called us back if we were going to get shots. She was honest when she responded with "yes", but I'm not sure honesty was what we needed. We put on a brave face as we were weighed and measured. The stats came in as follows:

Ryan
Weight: 44 pounds (70%)
Height: 42 1/2 inches (45%)

Lily
Weight: 40 1/4 pounds (50%)
Height: 41 inches (25%)

We did well with Dr. Hagerman. Our vision was good, our ears were clear, and we were labeled as two of the healthiest looking five year olds in town. As soon as Dr. Hagerman left though, it all went downhill. I started screaming immediately as the nurse returned with the shots. I climbed under the table, and like dominoes, I sent Lily into a tizzy like you've never seen before. Let's just say things got pretty ugly. Dad had to provide the nurse with a full assist, while Mom tried her best to divert the other's attention. When all was said and done we left with two shots in our arms (it used to be four, but they combined them thank goodness) and a ton of stickers. I scored an extra one for going first too, which made me feel a little bit better. We overheard Mom scheduling our six year check-up on the way out the door. Not exactly what we wanted to hear, but they told us after five it only gets easier here in our world.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had five days off from school for the Thanksgiving holiday so we make sure to fill them with a few of our favorite things...family and food!  Nothing beats spending the day with lots of cousins and pumpkin pie, and this was what Thanksgiving was all about this year.  The kids even took over the big screen TV to watch Brave, in between snacking on Doritos and playing on the iPads that is.  Good movie, in case your wondering, with only a few "scary" parts.  Nothing covering your ears can't fix though.

Saturday was reserved for birthday party #2.  Gigi found the best mint chocolate ice cream cake that Daddy just couldn't get enough of.  I had wanted Oreo's as well, and before I even noticed they magically appeared on the cake. Gigi just happened to have a package in the pantry so crisis averted!  We had fun hopping around with Marc all afternoon, and now we're officially ready to take on year number 5 here in our world!

We're Thankful For...

Today we had our Thanksgiving feast at school along with our parents.  We made a few turkeys, sang a few songs, and ate a few cookies, or a lot of cookies depending on who you ask.  We shared what we were thankful for via e-book.  One guess who said "my food".  That's right, this little guy!  Lily was thankful for "her family".  When asked to get a little more specific, Lily responded with "Mommy and Daddy", and I said "my pumpkin pie".  Thanksgiving just wouldn't be complete without pumpkin pie...and family of course here in our world!

Coral Reefs

It was a perfect November day for the zoo.  Lily and Dad hung out at Coral Reef class while Mom and I cruised around the zoo.  We managed to see nearly every animal, while Lily was busy learning about Sea Stars and Jellies (the new names for Star Fish and Jellyfish in case you were wondering).  Lily also made an Octopus costume with eight very colorful arms, and I was Mr. Helpful today helping anyone and everyone find all of the sneaky animals that were hiding.  Oh what a day!

Green Bay Birthday Party

We did it!  We made it to the ripe old age of 5, at least that's how we view it, and the first five days have gone off without a hitch.  Today, we headed North to Green Bay to celebrate with Grandma Jackie and the gang.  We started preparing yesterday by helping Mom bake our cakes.  The theme this year was originally Hot Wheels and dolphins, but those gave way to Dinosaurs and Barbie just a few short days before which left Mom scrambling.  She decided to make our cakes special by letting us choose our flavor since she didn't have enough time to come up with elaborate cakes.  Lily went with confetti and I got a little crazy choosing rainbow.  Our cakes, along with AJ's mint oreo ice cream cake, were a hit, with quite a dent being put in all three.  Grandma followed tradition giving each of us our age in balloons, which we love.  She also surprised us with some birthday hats this year which we loved as well.  The entire day was simply put, AWESOME!  We were able to see lots of family including Grandpa Jimmy and Grandma Betty, and we had a blast playing with our cousins.  We started with Elizabeth teaching Lily a little gymnastics, and ended with an art show put on by AJ, Lily, and myself.  Let's not forget the opening of the presents and me eating three pieces of cake (I had to try all three) somewhere in the middle of all the fun as well!  Here's to turning 5 here in our world!
