Rice Cereal
The doctor gave us the go ahead to start with rice cereal and oatmeal so mom and dad gave it a shot. We both did well opening our mouths for the spoon, but neither of us would turn down food so this wasn't much of a surprise. I caught on to the swallowing thing quickly, but Lily wasn't quite sure what to do with the cereal once she got it on her tongue. Unfortunately Lily spit most of hers out on the first try even though I tried to convince her it was pretty good stuff. I am holding true to my favorite saying - "Feed Me" - and have finished my last two bowls and plan to keep eating more.

4 Month Check-up
Ryan
Weight: 15.6 pounds (62%)
Height: 25 inches (50%)
Head Circumference: 16.7 inches (51%)
Lily
Weight: 13.9 pounds (52%)
Height: 24.1 inches (41%)
Head Circumference: 16.2 inches (52%)
We both got the okay to start eating rice cereal and oatmeal which sounds yummy if you ask us. We're getting a little tired of the same old formula. The doctor also said we started teething, although we may not see teeth for a little while. We've been drooling a lot lately and chewing on everything which is driving mom nuts, but she better get used to it. The doctor said we need to start wearing sunscreen when we are outside. Dad said we can go to a Cubs spring training game now, and he was pretty excited about this. Dr. Mike said I also need to keep working on stretching my neck. My head got a little crooked when I was in mommy's tummy because Lily was sitting on top of me which caused my neck to get tight on one side. Our check-up ended with those dreaded immunizations - 1 drink and 4 shots again. We tried to figure a way out before getting the shots, but no matter how much we moved our legs we couldn't seem to get anywhere. If anyone has any suggestions for next time we sure would appreciate them.

4 Months Old
2/29/08
It is our birthday again! We are 4 months old today, and it has been another month of exciting changes. We decided that since there was no 30th in February we got to celebrate on the 29th and the 1st, hence all of the pictures for you to enjoy. We are still growing (refer to January 30th post) and can no longer even attempt to sit in the chair together. Lily is still wearing 0-3 month clothes, but does fit into her 3-6 month shirts. Her legs are pretty short though and seem to be having a hard time catching up with her body. I am currently in 3-6 month clothes, but mom is still squeezing me into some 0-3 month clothes. I've found that mom has a hard time retiring some of our outfits, and sometimes dad has to point out that we look like we are "waiting for a flood" (that means our pants are too short). Our big accomplishments for the month include sleeping through the night, Lily really rolling over, and both Lily and I tripod sitting. As of February 16th we officially have our own cribs. My crib rocks because I got to keep the mobile, but mom is teaching me that I need to share with Lily by letting Lily join me in the morning for a little Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. We have been sleeping for a minimum of 6 hours per night, but often go longer with me making it 11 1/2 hours one night (pat myself on the back for that one!). Lily has been rolling over since mid-January, but she is more consistent now and mom even got video of it. We've also been working a lot on our six packs and can now sit up with support from our arms. We can't sit up for long, but we are getting stronger every day. Mom and dad continue to take us on field trips which is always exciting. We were introduced to golf, basketball, and football this month. Basketball is definitely our favorite which daddy seems excited about...he keeps mentioning March madness?!? The weather here has also been warming up which means we've been spending more time outside. We've been on lots of walks, and we really enjoy chilling in the backyard with mom and Wrigley. Lily and I both agree that we had a great month and we can't wait to continue on our adventure. We hope you can join us!!!3/1/08

Hanging Out
Today was spent just hanging out with mom and Wrigley at home. Just recently mom got out a bunch of our toys and we set up shop right in the middle of the family room. We are finally taking interest in some of the toys especially the ones we can put in our mouths. As you can see from the picture above we are also working on sitting up by ourselves. We still need to use our arms to balance, but we are getting stronger. All I can say is sitting up beats tummy time any day.

Lily Rolls Over
I have been rolling over since mid January, but I only do it on "Lily terms" (when I want to). Mom finally captured me in action today for all of you to see. Check it out!

Two Cribs
Lily's Crib ------------------------ Ryan's Crib
Well, mom and dad broke down and set up the second crib today. We can all thank Lily for this since she cannot seem to keep still during the night. The final decision was made by mom late Friday night when for the third time she had to come into our nursery and rescue me because Lily had managed to get her legs over my head and put me into a headlock. Mind you this was all done with a smile on her face. The first time she was kicking my legs, and the second time mom rescued me she was boucing her head on my tummy. Mom said Lily is getting me back for all of the abuse she took while were were still in mommy's tummy. That's not very nice of her if you ask me. I must say though, that after a few weeks of Lily's beatings I am happily sleeping 6-8 hours uninterrupted in my own crib. Good decision mom!Friday, February 15, 2008
Valentine's Day
We spent Valentine's Day with mom and dad at the ASU men's basketball game vs. #7 Stanford. Mom had us all decked out in our ASU gear, and everyone said we looked so cute. Dad took me into the tunnel before the game while mom and Lily sat in our seats. A bunch of the ASU players rubbed my head for good luck as they ran out onto the floor. It must have worked because ASU won in overtime 72-68!!! Jenn, a girl dad works with at ASU, also joined us for the game and helped watch us during all of the excitement. All of the fans around us were proud that we stayed awake until the game ended, but they should have realized we were too excited to fall asleep. I bet we get asked to go to more games now since we are such good luck.

Tummy Time
The weather has been beautiful here with highs in the upper 70's so we spent some time outside today on our tummies. We'll apologize in advance to all of our relatives and friends who are suffering through the brutal cold in the midwest...stinks to be you! Anyway, neither Lily nor I like tummy time very much. I mean who wants to have to work that hard just to lift your head up. Today, for some reason though, it felt good to be on our tummies. I think Wrigley liked our time outside too because he got to play fetch which doesn't happen as often as it used to from what I hear. Now that it is warming up here hopefully we'll be able to hang out outside more often. You should all come and join us!!!

A Rough Day of Shopping
Since my brother always gets to put his two cents in, I thought I'd take a moment to share some thoughts. Today Ryan, mom, and I got out with our friends, Donna and Landen Tow, to do some shopping. This is my new favorite pastime since it always ends in mom buying Ryan and I cool new clothes. Who wouldn't enjoy that?!? After a long day of driving from store to store and the Chandler Mall I must admit I was exhausted. After we got home I had to have a late afternoon snack, but unfortunately I fell asleep midway through snack time. Of course mom captured the moment since I looked so cute.Tuesday, February 5, 2008
Daddy's Birthday!
Today was daddy's birthday and we got to celebrate with him and mom. Mom and I baked a spice cake for him this morning while Lily slept. We then set out his presents and waited all day for him to come home. We went out to dinner at Joe's Farm Grill where dad feasted on giant shrimp, and teased us of course because we couldn't have any. I was licking my lips in anticipation though...maybe someday. Dad also opened presents from us and said it was weird seeing our names on his card. He better get used to that. We ended the day by using dad as a jungle gym which was quite fun if I do say so myself. Overall, I think he had a pretty good day and it is a bummer that we have to wait an entire year to do it again.
